Rábahídvég combines a long local history with a range of trip-planning options: the Holy Trinity Church spans several historical periods, Csodaszarvas Landscape Park has a nature trail and play facilities, and paddlers can land at two places on the Rába Water Tour.

Local history from the Roman road to the church

An important Roman road ran through the area of Rábahídvég. The Roman Catholic church dedicated to the Holy Trinity was already standing in 1342. At the end of the 16th century, the church passed into Protestant hands during the Reformation; in 1674, Catholics took it back during the Counter-Reformation. The dates mark different stages: 1342 refers to the church’s early existence, while its present-day Baroque form came later.

After several renovations and extensions in the 18th century, the Holy Trinity Church took on its present-day Baroque form. István Dorfmeister painted the altarpieces for the two side altars in 1773; today, only copies can be seen. The early mention, changes in denomination, and later architectural transformation are thus part of distinct periods in the church’s history.

The Seebach family’s castle adds a more recent building to the architectural history. It was built in the first half of the 19th century in the Neoclassical style with Baroque elements and currently houses a school. It dates from after the church’s Baroque transformation, so different building periods stand side by side in the history of the town.

Nature trail, play facilities and crafts at the landscape park

The 16-hectare Csodaszarvas Landscape Park in Rábahídvég includes a nature trail with explanatory signs. The park also has a woodland playground, a trampoline, a willow-basket carousel, and traditional games. While the trail and its signs provide information, the listed facilities offer a range of play activities. Check the current operating status of the trail and the availability of the play facilities before planning your visit.

The craft courtyard is also part of Csodaszarvas Landscape Park. An association supports its operation, and traditional crafts are taught there. This adds another focus to the signs and play facilities: learning about traditional crafts.
