Kisbér
Accommodation in Kisbér
Kisbér offers visitors two distinct local highlights: exhibitions on history and the Mini-Magyarország Miniature Park by the lake. If you are looking for hotels in Kisbér, these themes can guide your choice of destination. If you plan to visit the exhibitions, it is worth checking the opening hours before your trip.
Exhibitions and local history
The Büszkeségpont 1956 – Emlékmúzeum és Kiállítás is free to visit during the Kiskastély’s opening hours. It is open Tuesday to Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Check the hours before your trip so you can plan your visit to the exhibition accordingly.
The Kisbéri Helytörténeti Múzeum is also part of the local history scene; it opened on April 18, 2025. The exhibition of the Hegedűs Pál Helytörténeti Múzeum is housed in the former neoclassical building of the Ménesparancsnokság. Kisbér thus highlights both a dated opening and a specific example of historic architecture.
A miniature park by the lake
The Mini-Magyarország Miniature Park is located on the shore of Kisbér Lake. This adds another clearly defined point of interest to the exhibitions. Visitors who want to include both cultural attractions and a lakeside stay in their travel plans can consider these separately, without combining them into a single walking tour.
More highlights in the wider Komorn-Gran destination
The wider Komorn-Gran destination includes other cultural and natural attractions. The following highlights complement the local information about Kisbér with distinct regional points of interest.
The Majki Kamalduli Remeteség is a Baroque monument complex with seventeen hermit houses, a church tower and a monastery. An exhibition covers the general history of the Camaldolese Order and its history in Hungary. The complex is open Tuesday to Sunday: from April 1 to October 31, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and from November 1 to March 31, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Check the hours before your visit.
At the Bábolna Nemzeti Ménesbirtok, a guided visit begins with an exhibition on the history of the stud farm and continues in the Ménesudvar. Carriage rides, drawn by two Shagya Arabian mares, travel to the nearby arboretum; advance booking is required. Advance booking is also required for the “Fogat bemutató, ménfelvezetés” program. It features teams of four, five and two horses, and visitors can try these historic forms of transport for themselves.
The Brigetio Öröksége Látogatóközpont houses an interactive permanent archaeological exhibition featuring finds from excavations at Brigetio. The Monostori Erőd is a military monument in the fortification system of Komárom. Exhibitions and staged scenes illustrate the periods of the monarchy, the world wars and the Soviet occupation. The fortification system lies within the territory of both Komároms and is on UNESCO’s tentative World Heritage List.
The landscape and geology also give the wider Komorn-Gran destination its own character. The Gerecsei Tájvédelmi Körzet is a nationally significant, individually designated landscape protection area in Komárom-Esztergom, covering 8,676 hectares. Triassic limestone predominates in the Gerecse Mountains; Jurassic limestone is also found there and is particularly rich in fossils.
For regional orientation, 19 virtual walks are available to download in Hungarian, German, English and Slovak in the Duna-Gerecse tourism area; they work offline. As the availability of an application may change, check access in advance. Along the Által-ér, Tata, Vértesszőlős and Tatabánya can also be linked easily and safely by bicycle.
