Local history at the Tájház
The Tájház on Alkotmány utca was completed in 2006 for the 12th Jász Világtalálkozó. The event was held in Jászboldogháza and coincided with the 60th anniversary of the town’s independence. Residents preserved household items and donated them; members of the Ezüstkor Nyugdíjas Egyesület used these items to furnish the rooms in keeping with the period. A 2018 municipal inventory also describes a church history exhibition featuring objects, vestments and photographs from the outlying farmsteads’ chapels, which have since been demolished. Historical documents mainly relate to the construction of these chapels and the church. Everyday objects sit alongside documents on church history here.
Sacred sites and memorials
Jászboldogháza is the only place in the Jászság with three Szent Vendel statues. The community regards Szent Vendel as its most important patron saint. On October 20, Vendel Day, he is commemorated with a mass and wreath-laying ceremonies at the statues; candles are lit on All Souls’ Day. Construction of the parish church began in 1929 and was completed in 1930 during the tenure of parish priest Dr. Kele István.
At the end of Alkotmány utca, a memorial commemorates the more than one hundred farmsteads destroyed by the March 1963 flood in the Csíkos and Tápió farmstead areas, as well as those involved in the rescue efforts. The boat on display there was used during the flood to rescue people, animals and other goods. Another memorial to Jászboldogháza’s war victims stands on Rákóczi utca, between the church and the mayor’s office. The two memorial sites have different focuses: one recalls the flood and the rescue efforts, while the other commemorates the community’s war victims.
Nature in the area
The Jász látogatóközpont uses interactive exhibits to teach children and adults about many of the living things found in Jászboldogháza. Wetland, woodland and meadow habitats can be found near the visitor center and alongside the Strandfürdő and campsite, in a landscape surrounded by farmland. This brings education about local plant and animal life together with a landscape where several habitat types occur side by side.
The Strandfürdő and its pools
The Strandfürdő in Jászboldogháza has three pools: a large pool with a taut water surface, a children’s pool and a 32 °C warm sitting pool. Two of the pools have been renovated. Since the pool configuration may change over time, check the latest information before your visit.
