Földes offers a range of attractions: the Bihari-sík Tanösvény leads through a wetland, the Földesi Termálfürdő has swimming and thermal pools, and local collections focus on crafts and local history. This allows you to consider nature watching, water activities and cultural history as different focuses for your stay.

Experience nature on the Bihari-sík Tanösvény

The Hortobágy National Park Directorate established the Bihari-sík Tanösvény on the outskirts of Földes. The educational trail is accessible on foot from Földes. It includes a wetland system made up of several small lakes, a shallowly flooded area of reeds and cattails, and a continuous floodplain. Two observation towers offer views across this habitat and the chance to watch its diverse birdlife with binoculars. The trail also leads to a nesting site of the strictly protected red-footed falcon.

Thermal bath and recreational fishing

The Földesi Termálfürdő has a 29-metre-long swimming pool with a taut water surface and two thermal pools. At the point of emergence, the thermal water has a temperature of 67 °C and is rich in salt, alkaline chloride, iodine and bromine. A specific restriction applies for the 2026 season: the outdoor bath at Földesi Termálfürdő will be closed for renovation work.

The Földesi Horgásztó offers another option on the water, with recreational fishing available. From Földes, the lake can be reached via road 4805 in the direction of Hajdúszovát. Alongside the wetland by the educational trail, you can therefore choose a dedicated destination for anglers and the stated route to get there.

Crafts and local history

The Kállay Utcai Kovácsmúzeum displays a complete blacksmith's workshop with almost 500 tools. A map on an exterior wall commemorates the work of Földes's master blacksmiths and the locations of their former workshops. The workshop and map thus offer two concrete insights: into the tools of the blacksmith's trade and into its former place in the community.

The Karácsony Sándor Állandó Emlékkiállítás presents its themes in nine display cases; its materials can be studied on site. Reprints and duplicate copies are available to anyone interested, including researchers and students working on dissertations. The Kállay Utcai Kovácsmúzeum focuses on a single craft, while the Pécsi Sándor Helytörténeti Gyűjteménye displays more than 4,000 objects. The Reformed church building in Földes also looks back on several centuries of history.

Events and local food culture

The Szélrózsa Néptáncegyüttes performs at events at municipal, county, national and international levels. The Földesi Madársuli performance is the main program each year at the Bihar Közalapítvány event held in Földes on the first weekend of October. If you are planning your trip around this event, check the specific date in advance.

Borzos kifli is also part of the local food culture: this pastry was served on holidays, when welcoming guests and at harvest events. Together with the exhibitions and dance ensemble, this culinary tradition broadens the picture of Földes beyond its nature and water attractions.
