Kiskőrös: Petőfi, museums and thermal baths
Accommodation in Kiskőrös
When looking for a hotel for your stay, you can start by choosing the interests that matter most to you. Each of the following places has its own focus—from folk architecture to bathing pools and sports facilities.
Petőfi and literary heritage
The birthplace of Sándor Petőfi in Kiskőrös is a protected building in folk architecture dating from around 1790. The Petőfi Memorial Museum features a permanent exhibition about the poet’s life. In the courtyard between the birthplace and the memorial museum is the Műfordítói Szoborpark, with portraits of translators of his works. These three cultural attractions each have a different focus: the birthplace highlights architecture, the museum tells the story of his life, and the sculpture park honors translators of his works.
Technology, road construction and cacti
At the Old Car Museum, visitors can view the vehicles displayed on the ground floor and gallery, and use the interactive computer exhibits on the first floor. The open-air exhibition at the Úttörténeti Múzeum features road-construction machinery and equipment, as well as a bridge ensemble; it includes Central Europe’s largest collection of road rollers. The Old Car Museum thus combines vehicles on display with interactive exhibits, while the Úttörténeti Múzeum focuses on road construction. The Kaktuszmúzeum has more than 3,000 cactus species.
Bathing pools, sports and winegrowing
The Kiskőrösi Rónaszéki Fürdő has two outdoor cold-water pools and two covered, open-sided thermal pools arranged in pairs, with a whirlpool bath. There are also facilities for beach soccer, beach volleyball and tennis. The pools differ in water type and layout; three specific sports are available as well.
Borok Háza offers wine tastings featuring local winemakers and wineries, as well as an exhibition of historic and modern winegrowing equipment. A wine tasting combines sampling wines with learning about winemaking equipment. If you plan to attend a tasting, please check beforehand whether it is currently operating.

The wider destination of Bács-Kiskun offers further cultural and historical attractions. The Tiszaalpár, Földvár educational trail explores the history of the Bronze Age fortification of Tiszaalpári Földvár and the way of life of people in the Bronze Age. A reconstruction of an Árpád-era village, built in Tiszaalpár to mark the millennium, depicts the settlement layout discovered in local excavations. For a different perspective on regional culture, visit Kiskunhalasi Csipkeház és Csipkemúzeum, where visitors can learn about the history of Halas lace, admire lacework dating back centuries and see the process of lace embroidery. The history of Halas lace began in 1902. Bács-Kiskun thus brings together Bronze Age and Árpád-era settlement history and lace-making alongside the Petőfi and technology attractions in Kiskőrös.
