Schwarzbach combines a leisure attraction with a local history whose dated milestones span from 1317 to the 19th century. This gives you both the kart track and several historical connections to consider when planning your trip. If you are looking for a hotel in Schwarzbach, you can start by deciding which focus you would like to shape your stay.

Kart Track in Schwarzbach

The kart track in Schwarzbach is described as the largest outdoor kart track in southern Thuringia. If you would like to make it a key part of your itinerary, check the current operating and visitor arrangements in advance. If this activity is the main reason for your trip, it is worth taking the visitor arrangements into account before booking your hotel.

Local History from the Manor to the Brewery

Schwarzbach was first mentioned in a document in 1317 together with Brattendorf Manor. More than four centuries later, on January 10, 1721, Duke Ernst the Pious granted the town the rights to serve drinks and brew beer. During the 1866 war between Austria and Prussia, the Schwarzbach brewery supplied the Bavarian Army.

The dates mark different historical connections: 1317 the joint mention in a document, 1721 the granting of two rights, and 1866 the brewery as a supplier. The rights to serve drinks and brew beer cover serving and brewing; the later supply to the Bavarian Army, by contrast, is part of the wartime events.

The town’s history also extends beyond rights and the brewery: Schwarzbach had a castle, as did only a few villages. This adds an architectural feature alongside the documented and economic events marked by the dates. Nearly five and a half centuries separate the mention in 1317 from the events of the 1866 war; the rights granted in 1721 mark a point in between.

The church tower in Wiedersbach dates from 1601 and was renovated in 2009. A defensive earthwork was built in the Poppenwind district, once also known as “Lampr.” In Auengrund, Crock clubs built a swimming pool and an open-air stage on their own initiative in the 1970s, offering cultural and leisure activities at the time.
