When planning a trip to Horst-Herzhorn, you can choose from a range of activities: cycling tours, walks in protected landscapes, the banks of the Rhin, and cultural and event-related attractions. The routes vary in length and course.

Cycling Routes by Distance and Landscape

The Kiebitztörn is 34 kilometres long and starts at Horst railway station. It passes the Horstmühle and runs through the Königsmoor nature reserve and the marshland. The route returns to Horst via Altenmoor, where you’ll find a rose garden featuring historic varieties of roses. The Sommertörn also starts at Horst railway station, leads through Sommerland and the open marshland, and returns to Horst. It is an easy 24-kilometre circular cycling route, ten kilometres shorter than the Kiebitztörn.

The Storchentörn also starts at Horst railway station. The cycling tour runs through Hohenfelde and Glindesmoor, past meadows, fields and small villages. It leads from the lower-lying marsh and moor areas up to the geest near Hohenfelde. There are several stork nests along the route; in spring, you may be lucky enough to see storks nesting there.
