Accommodation in Grevenkrug
Landscape and nature in Eidertal Valley
In the eastern part of Grevenkrug lies the Eidertal landscape conservation area near Flintbek. The nearby Eidertal valley includes fens, wet forests, beech forests, springs, floodplains, kettle bogs and wet meadows. The range of landscapes therefore extends from wooded areas to bogs and wet meadows.
The wooded Grevenkrug Ridge offers a different landscape. It is a terminal moraine formed during the last advance of the Weichselian glaciation. While the habitat information relates to Eidertal Valley, the terminal moraine describes the geological formation of Grevenkrug Ridge.
Eidertal Valley provides a habitat for white-tailed eagles, kingfishers and corncrakes. Which animals you may see on a particular visit can vary. For nature enthusiasts, this nearby natural area combines a variety of habitats with a specific connection to birdlife.
The Eidertal Circular Trail
The approximately 10 km Eidertal circular trail is a route for walkers and cyclists. It connects municipal roads between Reesdorf, Techelsdorf, Grevenkrug and Schmalstede. The approximate distance provides a guide for planning; allow for the time you need based on your mode of travel and pace.
Information boards provide guidance along the way, while rustic shelters and natural benches serve as rest stops. This means you can assess the tour not only by its length, but also by its waypoints and opportunities to take a break. Check local conditions before setting out.
Cycling in Grevenkrug and the wider destination
For cycling travelers, the route information is useful at two levels. The Eidertal circular trail is a specific loop route associated with Grevenkrug. In the wider Rendsburg-Eckernförde destination, the signposted cycle network covers 1,000 kilometers. The first figure refers to a particular tour, while the second refers to the network across the district. This lets you distinguish between planning a single loop and considering the wider regional area.
Hotel Auerhahn and accommodation
Hotel Auerhahn is located on LandesstraĂźe 318 and offers accommodation as well as a large parking lot. Several room categories are available. Hotel and Restaurant Auerhahn is right next to the Eidertal hiking trail.
The room categories can provide an initial guide when making your choice. Check availability for your travel dates and ask for current information about the facilities before booking, as these may change. The parking lot and the hotel’s location right next to the hiking trail are other practical details to consider when planning your stay.
Restaurant at Auerhahn
The Auerhahn restaurant serves traditional German home-style cuisine. It is therefore an option both for overnight guests and for those visiting the restaurant without staying at the hotel.
As the menu may change, we recommend asking about the current selection when making specific plans. Also check whether you need to make a reservation for your preferred date.
