Accommodation in Dersau
During a stay in Dersau, you can choose between cycling tours, signposted hiking trails and time at the swimming area. Information about route lengths, the Dersauer Uklei Circular Trail and activities on Lake Großer Plöner See can help you decide how to spend your days. Getting there and local agriculture are also part of the picture of the town.
Cycling Routes and Circular Tour
Dersau offers ten cycling routes ranging from 25 to 58 kilometres. They start in Dersau or are mostly accessible by train. For navigation, the routes are available as GPS data for outdoor navigation devices. One specific tour is the Plöner-See-Tour: it can start in Dersau, is suitable for cycling, follows a circular route and is signposted. At almost 40 kilometres, it takes you around Lake Großer Plöner See.
Hiking and Landscape
Several signposted hiking trails offer an alternative to cycling. The Dersauer Uklei Circular Trail is considered suitable for families with children who can already walk independently. It starts at a small car park in Dersau and soon reaches the swimming area on the lake. Along the way, it offers views of Lake Großer Plöner See, hedgerows, meadows and fields. The trail also passes through the Eichholz coniferous forest, where the small Ukleisee lake is located. The circular trail thus combines open landscape views with a stretch through the forest and the Ukleisee.
Swimming Area and Activities on the Lake
Dersau’s swimming area has a sandy beach, green sunbathing lawns and a gently sloping bathing jetty. Activities on Lake Großer Plöner See from Dersau include sailing, rowing, fishing and trips aboard the passenger boat. This means there are various ways to enjoy the lake in addition to spending time at the swimming area.
Local Agriculture
Käsehof Biss has been run by the Biss family for more than 100 years. The farm focuses on dairy farming and cheese production. Those interested in regional agriculture will find a local focus here beyond cycling and lake activities.
Plan Your Journey
Dersau can be reached by train via Ascheberg; for the onward journey, you can take a bus towards Stocksee or a taxi. As transport connections may change, check local onward travel options before your trip. When planning to travel by train, both the connection to Dersau and access to the starting points of the various cycling routes are relevant.
