The climbing park brings together various climbing and play activities, route options of different lengths start at the forest park, and the season and activity matter at Vogtland Lake. If you know whether climbing, a hike by the raised bog or activities on the water will shape your stay, you can choose your excursions to match that focus.

Climbing activities at Grünheide Climbing Park

Grünheide Climbing Park offers 85 climbing elements across six courses of increasing difficulty. There are also 700 m of ziplines through the forest and a 13 m jump into a net. The activities therefore include different types of movement: courses, ziplines and the jump into the net. Children aged 3 to 6 have a small climbing forest; since 2025, a climbing forest for the youngest children has also been part of the offering. The options are complemented by the “Peterchens Mondfahrt” playground and a 70 m all-weather tubing track. If you are planning a visit with children, you can take the explicitly stated age group into account when choosing a climbing activity.

Hiking at the Forest Park and Raised Bog

The Grünheide family circular hiking trail is a family-friendly loop of about 5 km that starts and ends at Grünheide Forest Park. It runs along paved and well-gravelled forest paths and is suitable for strollers and dogs. The information about the length and surface can help you assess the route; its stated suitability for strollers and dogs may also be relevant to your plans.

A well-signposted hiking trail leads from Grünheide Forest Park to the raised bog near Grünheide after about 0.5 km. At the raised bog, narrow boardwalks lead to the edge of the protected bog. The area is also part of the extensive network of hiking and cycling trails around the forest park. The distances offer different options: the roughly 5 km circular route and the roughly 0.5 km trail from the forest park to the raised bog.

Vogtland Lake in Different Seasons

Vogtland Lake lies in a forested area between Beerheide, Grünheide Forest Park and Jägersgrün. It is a popular destination all year round for hikers, cyclists, cross-country skiers and horse riders. In summer, it is also popular as a swimming lake. The seasonal difference is useful for planning: swimming is a summer activity, while the lake is visited year-round for the activities listed.

The circular trail to Vogtland Lake leads to the lake and Grünheide Forest Park. As a separate winter option, the Groß Beerheide winter hiking trail runs through the forested area between Beerheide and Grünheide. There is a hikers’ car park at Grünheide Forest Park for the Vogtland Lake cross-country ski trail. Local conditions may vary by season, so check them when planning your trip.

Getting to the Forest Park

Public transport is a separate consideration when planning your trip to the forest park: Vogtlandbahn line VL1 from Zwickau to Kraslice runs as far as Auerbach. There is no public bus connection from there to Grünheide Forest Park. Check the current VL1 timetable before travelling and plan your onward journey accordingly.
