Reservoir and landscape

The Quitzdorf Reservoir has a water surface of about 7.35 square kilometres and is Saxony’s largest reservoir by area. It lies in the Quitzdorf Reservoir and Kollmer Heights Landscape Protection Area; the reservoir itself is also designated as a nature reserve. The landscape protection area is part of the Upper Lusatian Heath and Pond Landscape, one of Central Europe’s largest contiguous pond regions.
