Hiking trails, ponds and the municipal outdoor swimming pool shape the leisure options in Oppach.

Hiking trails, hilltop destinations and views

Oppach is part of the Upper Lusatian recreational region and a member of the Feriengebiet Oberlausitzer Bergland tourism association. Numerous well-marked hiking and cycling trails offer a way to explore the surrounding countryside. Hiking trails around Oppach provide views of the Zittau Mountains and the Czech mountains. The Kälbersteine are a scenic destination near Oppach, at an elevation of 487 metres. The Bieleboh is also near Oppach; at the summit of this 499-metre-high mountain stands an 18-metre-high observation tower.

Ponds, boat trips and wildlife watching

The pond area is part of the Oppach local circular trail, which passes the Dammmühlteich—also known as the Gondelteich—and connects towards Taubenheim and the Spreeradweg. Boat trips are offered on the Gondelteich; local availability may vary. An interpretive trail leads through the palace park and around the Gondelteich, providing information about local flora and fauna. Swans, coots, ducks, otters and several woodland bird species may be spotted at the Dammmühlteich and Grenzmühlteich ponds. Which animals can be seen may vary by season.

Outdoor swimming pool and fountain trail

Oppach’s municipal outdoor swimming pool is located in Lindenberg. It features a large swimming pool, diving towers and a tube slide. There are also sunbathing lawns, a children’s playground, table tennis and beach volleyball. Accessible sanitary facilities round out the amenities.

The fountain trail uses Pegasus as its trail motif. In the rocks, the horse is represented by horseshoe-shaped inclusions known as Rosstrappen. This creates a direct connection between a named motif and a specific rock formation—a different thematic focus from wildlife watching at the ponds.
