Kreba-Neudorf: Heathland, Ponds and Circular Routes
Accommodation in Kreba-Neudorf
Kreba-Neudorf can be explored through the heathland and pond landscape of Upper Lusatia and the Local History Nature Trail. When planning your trip, you can choose from circular routes, a cycling tour and places connected with village history and play. The different destinations and route lengths provide guidance if you would like to plan your stay around walks, cycling or nature-related themes.
Landscape and themed trails
The Local History Nature Trail runs through all the districts of Kreba-Neudorf and the typical heathland and pond landscape of Upper Lusatia. It comprises seven themed trails and a cycling tour. Interactive stations along the routes present local history, habitats and biological diversity for children and adults.
A historical description of the village characterizes Kreba as a heathland village with a park rich in trees and water, pond dams, forest paths lined with heathland, and an abundance of wildlife and plant life. This description offers a historical perspective on the village; the specific routes and destinations provide additional guidance when choosing a trail.
Comparing three circular routes
The three circular routes cover a total of about 14 kilometers and can be explored on foot or by bicycle. Circular Route 1 is 5.5 kilometers long and connects Kreba and Neudorf via five themed trails. It is signposted in both directions and can also be explored in individual sections.
At 3.5 kilometers, Circular Route 2 is the shortest of the three. It passes through the castle park to the Kreba pond group. Circular Route 3 is a five-kilometer cycling route connecting Kreba with Lache and Tschernske. The routes therefore differ not only in length: the destinations described range from the castle park and pond group to a connection between several districts.
Kreba’s fish farming is also a topic on Circular Route 3: in the “Schwarze Lache” area, the route focuses on its characteristics. Those interested in this local connection will find a specific theme along the route in addition to the cycling connection.
Village history and places to visit
In central Kreba, the “Gasthof zur Krone” rest and play area combines art, village history and play for visitors. In Neudorf, the village square offers a different focus: its facilities include an accessible entrance, a book exchange station, bicycle racks and a table tennis table. The accessible entrance is a feature of the village square; it does not automatically describe other paths or facilities.
Parking and bus connections
Parking is available at the starting points of the nature trail, in the center of Kreba and on Schmiedeweg in Kreba. As parking availability may change, check the situation on site.
Accessible bus line 70 serves Kreba and Neudorf daily and stops in both districts. Check the current timetable before travelling, as public transport services may change. This gives you both parking information and a bus connection serving both districts for your planning.
