For a stay in Stützengrün, there are several themes to explore: history and Ore Mountains motifs at the Nadlerhaus and Stützengrün Christmas World, views from the Kuhberg and nature along the mountain meadow trail. These different points of interest can help you plan your trip around your interests.

Views and trails

You can reach the Kuhberg viewpoint on foot in about 30 minutes; alternatively, a paved road leads there. The 20-metre-high Prince George Tower has an observation platform reached by 99 steps. From there, you can see across the surrounding area and the Ore Mountains ridge. Two different details are useful for planning: the approximate walking time to the viewpoint and the number of steps to the platform.

The mountain meadow trail is an approximately 3.1-kilometre circular hike through a typical Ore Mountains valley. Along the way, the route passes mountain meadows where Scottish Highland cattle graze, ponds, streams and springs, as well as woodland. The circuit therefore appeals to nature lovers in several ways: open meadows, water features and woodland are all part of the trail. When comparing it with the Kuhberg, the focus here is on the length of the circular hike, while at the Kuhberg it is on the approximate walking time to the viewpoint.

The Eibenstock Reservoir borders Stützengrün. It has marked hiking trails, rest areas and information panels about flora and fauna. Kneipp facilities are also available in the village of Hundshübel. If you plan to use them, it is advisable to check their current condition before your visit.

Local history and Ore Mountains motifs

The Nadlerhaus is one of the oldest buildings in Stützengrün. Built around 1750, this day-labourer's house now serves as a local history museum. If you would like to learn more about its history, guided tours with historical explanations can be arranged in advance. Factor this advance booking into your plans for visiting the museum.

Stützengrün Christmas World is devoted to mining and Christmas themes all year round. The experience includes a mine tunnel, working dwarves and elves, stories, Christmas carols and Ore Mountains folk art products. Different aspects of regional tradition are brought together here. The fact that the theme is presented year-round does not mean that opening hours are fixed; check the opening arrangements separately in advance.
