A look at the wider Bernkastel-Wittlich destination

The wider Bernkastel-Wittlich destination brings together the volcanic Eifel, the romantic Moselle Valley and the forest- and meadow-rich Hunsrück. Its natural and cultural highlights include the Erbeskopf and destinations in Manderscheid and Klausen. At 816 metres high, the Erbeskopf is a popular hiking destination and offers a wide range of winter sports. The National Park Gateway at the Erbeskopf provides information about nature and the environment and features an interactive multimedia exhibition focusing on forests and moors.

In Manderscheid, two medieval castle ruins face each other from steep rocky spurs above the Lieser. The Manderscheid Castle Trail is a moderately difficult 5.4-kilometre circular route around the castles, with a stated duration of two hours. The Castle Via Ferrata is a separate route: it comprises three stages, is about four kilometres long in total, and has cable protection along one kilometre. In Klausen, the Church of the Visitation of Mary was consecrated in 1502. Klausen remains a destination for pilgrims each year. These places are part of the wider Bernkastel-Wittlich destination and complement Bruch’s specific natural and historical attractions with further regional perspectives.
