Feilbingert: Lemberg, Hiking Trails and Wine Culture
Accommodation in Feilbingert
Feilbingert particularly appeals to travelers who want to combine hiking, scenery and mining history. The Lemberg nature reserve covers around 240 hectares and lies entirely within the boundaries of Feilbingert. The earliest documented records of mercury mining on the Lemberg date back to 1469. This creates a mix of themes to explore when planning a stay, including various hiking routes, scenic viewpoints, a local museum and wine from the area.
Hiking Trails and Route Lengths
The Vitaltour Geheimnisvoller Lemberg is a 13.5-kilometer premium trail. The route combines alpine paths and panoramic views with historic mining relics, the Schmittenstollen visitor mine and the Trombach Valley. The Panoramaweg Feilbingert is a shorter circular route of about nine kilometers. It is suitable for hiking, jogging, Nordic walking and cycling, and has moderate inclines. Regular benches and rest areas offer places to take a break; the trail is also well signposted and can be shortened to suit individual plans.
Another option is the three-kilometer family trail “Findet Lemi.” This forest trail passes scenic viewpoints and includes an exploratory element: along the way, visitors try to find the hidden figure Lemi. The Vitaltour focuses on its longer route and mining and valley scenery; the Panoramaweg offers a shorter loop suitable for several types of exercise, while “Findet Lemi” adds a search for the figure to the forest walk.
Scenic Viewpoints and Landscape
The Rapunzelturm can only be reached on foot, and the Vitaltour Geheimnisvoller Lemberg passes right by it. The tower was converted into an observation tower with a spiral staircase; from the top, views extend toward Duchroth and Oberhausen an der Nahe. A picnic area is located in the former adjoining building. The XXL Panoramabank can be reached via the K83, and the Panoramaweg also passes right by it.
One special nature experience can be found along the route from Oberhausen to the Lemberg: oak-hornbeam forests there feature extensive blooms of Siberian squill in spring. By taking the flowering season into account when planning, visitors can enjoy a seasonal natural highlight in addition to the views and mining history. Since the Rapunzelturm is only accessible on foot, check local conditions and the latest information about the trails before setting out.
Mining History, Museum and Wine
The Museumsscheune on Ringstraße complements the impressions from the trails with a local perspective on history. This small local history museum displays agricultural equipment for visitors. It is a good idea to check current visiting arrangements before you go, as museum exhibits and access rules can change.
You can reach the Schmittenstollen by bicycle or car via the K83 toward the Lemberg. A hiking car park is about 700 meters from the entrance. The site includes a wine and beer garden serving regional specialties and drinks, a barbecue area and a mining-themed adventure playground. These amenities complement the mining heritage of the hiking trails with opportunities to take a break; check current visiting arrangements and offerings in advance.
Wine is also part of the local offering: winemakers host tastings at wineries and wine-tasting stands, while local inns serve wines from local producers. Whether you want to plan your stay around a longer hike, a shorter loop, or cultural and culinary experiences, Feilbingert offers a range of options.
