Lind’s western location in the Ahr Mountains offers panoramic views of the Volcanic Eifel and the Siebengebirge, as well as the Hohe Acht, while hiking. A prominent spot in Lind is the Linder Höhe: at 488 metres, this panoramic plateau is also a waypoint on the fourth stage of the AhrSteig. This makes it possible to combine views of the landscape with a specific connection to the long-distance hiking trail.

Hiking Trails and Panoramic Views

The municipality of Lind has four signposted circular hiking trails covering a total of 35 kilometres; around 20 hiking trails are marked overall. Check the current signs on site before setting out, as trail networks may change.

The Lind Panorama Trail is 6.5 kilometres long and takes around two hours. It is rated as easy and has 171 metres of ascent and descent. These figures give you a specific basis for planning your hike; local conditions may change. So check the latest route information before you set off.

The Three-Village Nature Experience Trails around Lind also include a 16-kilometre loop. This is considerably longer than the 6.5-kilometre Panorama Trail.

A linden tree symbol marks the Panorama Trail; information about the weather is provided along the route. The trail marker offers a specific navigational guide, while the weather theme provides the focus of the information. The Krippenkapelle is considered a highlight directly on the hiking trail. A section of the AhrSteig also follows the Panorama Trail.

The AhrSteig is a long-distance hiking trail with seven stages, connecting the source of the Ahr in Blankenheim with the river’s mouth near Sinzig. Its natural trails lead through valleys, uplands, vineyards and forests in the Ahr region. Stage 4 is marked in both directions with the blue AhrSteig logo; the Linder Höhe is a waypoint on this stage. Check the latest route information and trail markers before your hike.

Architectural and Local History

The Catholic parish church of St. Notburgis is also part of the town’s history. The tower has a probably medieval core and a Baroque cupola; the Neo-Gothic hall nave was built in 1906. The different architectural styles and the year refer to different parts and phases of the church. There are also two 18th-century grave crosses and a cross fragment.

Lind-Obliers also has a historical landmark: the ruins of Wensburg are designated as a monument zone. The medieval remains there include a circular wall, a zwinger wall and a keep with a tented roof.

Lind is first mentioned in the Prüm Urbar, dated to 893. Together with the church’s construction, this provides an early point of reference for the town’s history. The dates refer to different things: 893 is the first mention of Lind, while 1906 is the year the Neo-Gothic hall nave was built.
