Angermund in Düsseldorf offers a range of options for a stay: a landscaped park with seasonal opening hours, protected natural areas, a local hiking trail and landmarks from several centuries. These local features can help you plan your visit around the different themes and relevant opening times.

Heltorf Palace Park

Heltorf Palace Park covers 54 hectares and was laid out as an English landscape garden by Maximilian Weyhe in the 19th century. In 2026, it is open on weekends and public holidays from April 3 to October 31, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. If you are planning a visit, keep to these opening hours and check them before you travel.

Nature and hiking

The 303-hectare Überanger Mark nature reserve includes woodland in Heltorfer Mark and Überanger Mark; it stretches along the Angermund gravel pit lake and the Angermund district. Old hornbeams, elms, ash trees and hawthorns grow in the Überanger Mark forest. Under the EU Habitats Directive, the forest was selected as a natural area in need of special protection. There are three gravel pit lakes in the area around Angermund: they were created by past gravel extraction and are now used mainly for local recreation. Their origins in past gravel extraction and their current recreational use give them a different landscape character from the protected woodland. Their scale distinguishes the two natural areas: the nature reserve covers 303 hectares, while the palace park covers 54 hectares.

The Kaiserswerth–Angermund local hiking trail connects Kaiserswerth and Angermund over a distance of 12.8 kilometers. Both the start and finish are accessible by public transport. If you include the trail in your travel plans, take the full distance into account and check current connections to both endpoints.

Hubertus Chapel in Düsseldorf-Angermund dates from the 17th century. Angermund Civic Building in Düsseldorf was built in the Baroque style in the 18th century and has been a listed monument since 1984. Angermund Cemetery contains a mausoleum commissioned by the von Spee family administration in 1812, which has been preserved to this day. The motte marks a medieval phase of development; the chapel, Baroque civic building and mausoleum mark further historical periods through the 19th century.
