Hademstorf lies at the confluence of the Aller and Leine rivers, in the heart of the Aller-Leine Valley. The town’s profile brings together river scenery, a protected natural area, and the history of the former post station. If you’re looking for hotels in Hademstorf, these themes can help you tailor your trip to your interests and plan your days there.

Bansee and the Aller Landscape

The Bansee nature reserve in the Hademstorf district covers about 18 hectares. This natural, still body of water is surrounded by dunes and woodland, and also includes a transitional bog and a pine carr on its edge. The landscape therefore encompasses several distinct habitats. Visits are subject to clear restrictions: in general, the area may not be entered, driven through, or otherwise visited outside the paths. Swimming and boating are also prohibited in the nature reserve. Bear these rules in mind when planning a nature-focused stay.

The Aller Cycle Path passes through Hademstorf and follows the Aller through meadows, pastures, and pine forests. Another activity is the three-hour canoe tour on offer from Hademstorf to Hodenhagen.

Historic Posthof and Lock

The Historic Posthof recalls the era of horse-drawn mail coaches: it was established as a horse-changing station in 1649, where the mail coach routes from Hanover to Harburg and Bremen converged. The former post station building still stands today, is privately used, and is the only officially recognized historic monument in Hademstorf.

Hademstorf Lock is the only one of the four weirs near the mouth of the Leine to have been preserved in its original condition. A pedestrian bridge crosses the Aller at the lock. Due to repair work, the lock is closed in all directions from February 12, 2026, through January 1, 2027; for technical reasons, it is also considered closed until further notice. Check its current status before visiting.

More Destinations in the Heidekreis

The wider Heidekreis destination also offers other regional highlights. In Munster, the German Tank Museum’s exhibition includes more than 150 large exhibits in five halls covering more than 10,000 square meters; the displays may change. The Heidmark Farm in Bad Fallingbostel is also of historical interest: built in 1642, the building was dismantled in 1936 and rebuilt in Liethwald Forest. Today, it is a listed monument and one of the oldest buildings in the Heidekreis district.

The Serengeti Park in Hodenhagen offers a 10-kilometer safari drive in your own car through the Serengeti Safari. Check the latest visitor information before planning your trip. These regional destinations offer a broader perspective on Hademstorf: within the town, the focus is on the confluence of the Aller and Leine, Bansee, and the history of the Posthof.
