Discover Densberg
Accommodation in Densberg
When choosing Densberg as a travel destination, the Kellerwald landscape and a few historic sites take center stage. Densberg lies in the Gilsa Valley, in the southern part of Kellerwald-Edersee Nature Park. The nature park is known for its extensive beech forests, and nearby hiking trails head toward Wüstegarten. Forest, views and local history are the specific themes you can use to shape your stay.
Landscape and views at Wüstegarten
Kellerwald Tower stands on the 675 m-high Wüstegarten, about 3 km north of Densberg. The tower is 28 m high. On a clear day, the view extends across Kellerwald and much of North Hesse. If views are important to you when choosing a travel destination, clear weather is one of the conditions for enjoying this panorama.
The tower has 123 steps. Its ground floor serves as a shelter and is equipped with benches and information panels. The panels cover the flora, fauna, geology and history of Kellerwald. At Wüstegarten, panoramic views come together with information about nature and the landscape. Nearby hiking trails also lead toward Wüstegarten, connecting the nature park theme to the area around Densberg.
Castle ruins in Densberg
The remains of Densberg Castle lie on the spur behind the village church. Only a few remnants of the walls and the moat remain. This creates a clear contrast: at Wüstegarten, elevation, panoramic views and nature take center stage; at the castle site, it is the few structural remains at a specific spot in the village. Landscape and local history offer two distinct focuses when choosing a travel destination.

Another historic place in Jesberg is the Prinzessinnengarten (Princess Garden), located to the southeast in what is now Jesberg State Forest. It was created between 1723 and 1753 at the request of Maximilian’s four daughters: Friederike (1722–1787), Charlotte (1725–1782), Wilhelmine (1726–1808) and Karoline (1732–1759). The garden’s long period of development and its named patrons give it a distinct historical significance alongside Jesberg’s castle and event venues.
The leisure center near the campground in Jesberg has football, basketball and tennis courts, a beach volleyball court, a modern adventure playground, and a boccia and boules court. The Ninja Warrior course opened on 14 October 2023. Its 32-meter-long route includes eight stations that require skill and strength. The skate park consists of five different features; two of them have additional safety rails. If you plan to use these facilities, it is advisable to check the current access conditions before visiting.
