Discover Perleberg
Accommodation in Perleberg
Perleberg offers a range of reasons to stay: wildlife watching at the zoo, exploring the city independently or joining themed tours. Cyclists will also find connections with designated routes linked to the city.
Zoo and city walks
Perleberg Zoo is home to native and exotic animal species in modern enclosures, some of which visitors can enter. The zoo includes a large bear enclosure, opened in 1996. Individual exhibits may change. If you are particularly interested in specific animals, take this into account when planning and check the latest information before your visit.
There are different ways to explore the city: Perleberg’s tourist information office books themed city walks. Perleberg also offers a digital city tour, which you can access via the municipal website or information panels in the city centre. This lets you choose between a booked guided tour and a self-guided walk. Digital and physical navigation aids may be updated; check the latest information before using them.
Architecture, cycling routes and local products
One distinctive architectural detail is the Knaggenhaus. It takes its name from 13 carved figures, described as unique in northern Germany. Looking at these figures adds a specific detail of architectural heritage to your exploration of the city.
Perleberg’s tourism information lists the Historic Town Centres 3 and Tour Brandenburg long-distance cycle routes. For cyclists, both routes offer additional guidance when planning a trip; signage and route conditions may change. Check the latest information about your route before setting out on a stage.
The tourist information office also has a connection to regional products: a notice dated 28 March 2025 mentions the sale there of Rolandtrunk and Scharfer Roland, liqueur products from the Wittstock liqueur distillery. Product availability may change. If you are specifically looking for them, ask in advance whether they are currently available.
More ways to explore the Prignitz
The wider destination of Prignitz offers additional nature and cycling experiences. The Brandenburg section of the cross-state “Flusslandschaft Elbe – Brandenburg” Biosphere Reserve covers around 53,000 hectares and lies almost entirely within the Prignitz district. The Prignitz also has 1,100 kilometres of designated cycle routes and 17 recommended cycling tours, which take in regional sights and distinctive features of the area. One example is the church in Blüthen: it is a cycling church and lies directly on the 410-kilometre Elbe-Müritz circular route, which links rivers and lakes.
Cultural offerings across the Prignitz also cover a range of themes. The BlĂĽthen Rectory Museum uses the parish archive, with records dating back to the 17th century, and the estate of Karl and Gerlinde GroĂź to convey what life was like in an Evangelical rectory in the past. The Pritzwalk Museum Factory has a permanent exhibition on industrialisation in rural areas; visitors can get hands-on in the museum print shop and hand-weaving workshop.
Plan a stay that suits you
When planning a stay in the city, you can also decide whether a booked guided tour or the digital self-guided tour better suits your plans. These points of interest give your search a clear direction without requiring you to choose a particular type of hotel.
