Trautskirchen combines paths through nature with Franconian architecture and local history. If you are looking for a hotel for a stay in the village, these two themes can help structure your trip planning: hiking and landscapes on the one hand, historic buildings and local history on the other.

Hiking Trails and Landscapes

The extensive mixed forest around Trautskirchen is crisscrossed by trails and is ideal for long walks. There are 45 kilometres of marked hiking trails in the village, connected to a regional network of hiking and cycling routes. The Zenntal valley is part of the 110,000-hectare Frankenhöhe Nature Park; within the municipality of Trautskirchen, it forms a particularly picturesque corner.

One specific route is the Trautskirchen Nature Trail. It is about three kilometres long, runs from the eastern edge of the village through the Herrschaftswald forest to the northwest of Trautskirchen, and starts at the hikers’ car park by the bathing pond near the Schützenhaus. Along the trail, ten information boards provide interesting facts about the landscape, nature and history.

The Zenntal hiking trail also runs through the landscape of the Zenntal valley and connects Neuhof an der Zenn, Trautskirchen and Obernzenn. In addition to the locally described circular route, it highlights the connections between several municipalities and the valley landscape as a hiking destination.

Franconian Architecture and History

Trautskirchen Baroque Palace was built in 1708 by Ludwig von Seckendorff zu Obernzenn und Meuselwitz as an imposing three-winged Baroque palace. St. Laurentius Church in Trautskirchen is a Gothic church on the site of a former fortified cemetery. Its interior furnishings date from the 17th and 18th centuries and include magnificent stucco-framed panels.

The Hans Böckler House is a small museum in the former birthplace of Hans Böckler. It features an exhibition on the trade union movement since industrialisation. In the district of Buch stands the Buchermühle, an impressive manor building and former grain and saw mill. It is no longer in operation.

In the district of Fröschendorf, the half-timbered residential and stable building dates from the 16th or 17th century; the Zenntal cycle route passes right by it. The village’s character includes both old, organically developed Franconian settlement patterns with attractive half-timbered houses and modern buildings. Its architectural history is therefore reflected in different types of buildings and in various districts.

More Activities in the Area

Next to the town hall, on the site of the former sports ground, there is a playground with numerous play facilities, a large sand area, a beach volleyball court and a football pitch. As facilities may change, check the latest information before your visit if needed.

Choosing a Hotel in Trautskirchen

The local highlights are easy to distinguish when planning your trip: the nature trail and hiking routes focus on getting active outdoors, while the palace, church, museum and mill buildings reflect the area’s architecture and local history. Consider which theme you want to shape your stay, then compare the specific details of the hotels that might suit your search.
