Discover Marktbergel: Petersberg, the Aisch spring and the MUNA Museum
Accommodation in Marktbergel
Marktbergel lies at the foot of Petersberg, right on the B 13 between Ansbach and WĂĽrzburg, and between Rothenburg and Bad Windsheim. This provides a clear geographical reference for planning your trip. Nature, local history and military history come together here. The source of the Aisch is also in the municipality of Marktbergel, right on the boundary with the municipality of Burgbernheim.
Petersberg and the Aisch spring
At 504 metres high, Petersberg is free of woodland and is now an attractive destination for a day trip, with magnificent views across the northern plain. Wine was once grown on the hill. The site thus brings together its present-day appeal as an excursion destination and the hill’s former use. Petersberg is a focal point in the landscape; the Aisch spring adds a geographical point of interest.
The source of the Aisch marks the beginning of the Aischgrund region, known for its Franconian carp speciality. It is located in Marktbergel, right on the municipal boundary with Burgbernheim. The spring can therefore be associated both with the locality and with the start of this region shaped by its culinary traditions.
Guided hikes and museum
Guided hikes can be arranged in Marktbergel by prior reservation. Options include tours along the adventure trail on Petersberg or village walks exploring Marktbergel’s history. If you would like to get to know the place on foot, these two formats offer different perspectives: the adventure trail focuses on Petersberg, while the village walk centres on the history of the town.
The MUNA Museum Marktbergel makes the history of the former “Lufthauptmunitionsanstalt Oberdachstetten” and the military history of the surrounding communities in the Frankenhöhe accessible to the public. Its focus therefore differs from the natural scenery of Petersberg and the local history explored on a village walk.
