Nature and cultural themes can play different roles when choosing Pfaffing as a travel destination. Nearby are the small River Attel and the Filzen, a moorland landscape. The Cultural Trail runs through Pfaffing, and the Nature Experience Trail also starts there. Other attractions include St. Catherine’s Parish Church and the Kunst in der Filzen stage programme. The themes range from landscape and cycling routes to nature stations, architectural history and stage performances.

Landscape and views

The 18-hole Pfaffing Golf Course at Neuhaus 132 offers views of the Alpine panorama. Together with the nearby Attel and Filzen, it provides a variety of landscape features: a small river, a moorland landscape and the Alpine panorama from the golf course.

The Cultural Trail by bike

The Cultural Trail is a circular cycling route through the municipalities of Edling and Pfaffing, taking in historically significant cultural landmarks. It is around 28 km long. Weather-resistant signs along the route provide information about nine monuments. One of the nine stops is the Stoa, a glacial erratic. The circular route therefore leads to several cultural destinations, while St. Catherine’s Parish Church focuses on a single building with its own architectural history.

Church and stage programme

St. Catherine’s Parish Church in Pfaffing is a Baroque building erected in 1731/32 by Thomas Mayr, a master mason from Grafing. The lower section of the tower is still late Gothic. The building thus brings together two distinct architectural periods. Tours of the church can be booked through the parish office. As booking information may change, contact the office for the latest arrangements.

Kunst in der Filzen offers a stage programme in Pfaffing featuring theatre, music and cabaret. Dates vary; if you are interested in a particular event, check its scheduled dates.

The Pfaffing Nature Experience Trail

There are 17 tree puzzles in total along the Pfaffing Nature Experience Trail. Station 2 has a tactile trail, a crocodile, an animal long-jump station, a listening spot and a tree nursery. Station 3 has a hut by a forest clearing, a tree nursery with information about annual rings, a wooden xylophone and an insect hotel where wild bees can be observed. The stations have different focuses: Station 2 brings together a range of puzzle and sensory activities, while Station 3 combines tree knowledge, sound and the observation of wild bees. The installations may change. If particular stations are important to your plans, check their current status before visiting.
