Konnersreuth brings together the story of Therese Neumann, sacred architecture, a garden and trails through woodland. To plan your visit, you can choose between exploring local history and the garden, walking the Forest Contemplation Trail near Konnersreuth, or taking a longer circular hike starting in the village.

Therese Neumann, the Parish Church and Resl Garden

The Resl House in Konnersreuth is the birthplace of Therese Neumann. She was born there on 8 April 1898. The house is therefore a tangible biographical point of reference for anyone interested in the story of Resl of Konnersreuth.

The present-day parish church offers a different focus: it was built between 1775 and 1782 and is a fine example of late Rococo. At Resl Garden, next to the Therese Neumann Museum, you can learn about Resl of Konnersreuth, as well as the flowers and plants and the garden’s eventful history. This gives local history, the garden and architecture their own distinct place.

Forest Contemplation Trail and Circular Hike

The Forest Contemplation Trail is on the Konnsberg near Konnersreuth. It invites everyone to see and follow the path of God’s creation and enjoy the beauty of the forest. A pavilion along the trail provides information about the contemplation trail, Resl of Konnersreuth and Waldsassen Abbey. The forest, contemplation and these three subjects define the character of the trail.

An 11-kilometre circular hiking trail starts in Konnersreuth and leads through the Stiftland countryside to the pilgrimage church of the Holy Trinity at Kappl. The church is a Baroque gem with a distinctive circular shape and three majestic towers. Unlike the themed Forest Contemplation Trail, this circular route has a stated length and a named destination. Check current route conditions before setting out.

Hiking and Cycling in the Region

The wider range of activities available in the area may also be relevant when planning your trip: in Konnersreuth, visitors can enjoy hiking and cycling holidays in the Stiftland holiday region, the northern Steinwald and the Fichtelgebirge. Alongside local attractions, hiking and cycling are therefore regional highlights. Depending on what you want to focus on during your stay, local history, nature or an excursion through the countryside can take centre stage.

Tirschenreuth: Museums and Fischhof Park

In the wider destination of Tirschenreuth, the MuseumsQuartier offers its own cultural focus. Housed in a former monastery, it brings together the Upper Palatinate Fisheries Museum and six other specialist exhibitions. Visitors can explore almost 1,000 years of fishing and fish-farming history and see local fish in four large aquariums.

The MuseumsQuartier regularly hosts special exhibitions, talks, readings and concerts. If you are interested in a particular event, check the dates before planning your visit. Fischhof Park is another distinct point of interest in Tirschenreuth: at its centre are the historic Fischhof Bridge and the Fischhof, which houses the district court. The museum and park offer a different focus from local history and hiking trails in Konnersreuth.

Regional Specialties

Culinary traditions are also part of the wider destination of Tirschenreuth. The district of Tirschenreuth is best known for Zoigl, the traditional beer of the Upper Palatinate Forest. The region is also known for carp from the pond landscapes of the “Land of 1,000 Ponds.” These add regional food and drink traditions to the cultural and nature-related attractions without attributing them to Konnersreuth itself.
