Feucht offers cultural and historical attractions as well as activities on foot, by bike and in the water. The options range from the Zeidel Museum and historic buildings to the bird nature trail, the running and walking course, and the sports pool at Feuchtasia. When planning your visit, you can focus on museums, architectural history or exercise.

Museums and Architectural History

Since 1984, the Zeidel Museum has been housed in the Hutzlerhaus, which belongs to the market town of Feucht. On the ground floor, a private sponsoring association presents changing exhibitions by artists from the region in two rooms. Another museum to visit is the Hermann Oberth Spaceflight Museum, founded in 1971. It is dedicated to the life’s work of Professor Hermann Oberth (1894–1989). The museum was therefore founded during Oberth’s lifetime.

The history of the manor houses is also part of Feucht’s townscape. Three such residences were built here: Zeidler Castle, Pfinzing Castle and Tucher Castle. Tucher Castle acquired its present form in 1590/91, based on one of the former manor houses of Nuremberg patricians in Feucht. Over the course of the 18th century, its garden was redesigned as a Baroque garden. The dates for the castle and garden tell the story of different phases in the development of the estate.

Another ensemble comprises the church, the Old Forge and the Mesnerhaus, the former Feucht schoolhouse. It is complemented by the Baroque rectory, built in 1732, in the adjoining rectory garden. Feucht therefore has various examples of historic buildings and how they fit together, from the former schoolhouse to a manor house with a Baroque garden.

Trails and activities in Feucht

The bird nature trail runs from Crottendorfer Weg / Altdorfer StraĂźe to Sparkassenplatz. At its nine stations, you can learn more about local bird species, their way of life, food and breeding seasons. Birdsong can also be heard at every station. The information is thus linked to a specific nature theme along the route.

For running and walking, the Feucht course comprises twelve routes with a total length of 69.5 kilometres. Four starting points in Feucht offer the option of shortening a route or combining it with another route. This is useful if you want to include different route lengths in your plans; the total length refers to the network of routes.

Cycling can also be a focus in its own right: Feucht lies on Stage 4 of the Sinnesradweg, which runs from Feucht to Schnaittach. For comparison, the options include a designated cycling stage, several running and walking routes, and the themed bird nature trail. The sports pool at Feuchtasia adds to this selection. It has more than 1,000 m² of water surface and is suitable for swimming laps.

In Feucht, tour guide Daniela Semann offers guided tours. If a tour fits your travel plans, arrange the specific date in advance.

The wider NĂĽrnberger Land destination

Across the wider Nürnberger Land destination, more than 3,000 kilometres of clearly marked hiking trails and well-developed cycle paths of varying difficulty run through the region. One example of the area’s landscapes is the Franconian Dune Trail, which passes through sandstone gorges, sand dunes and shady forests. This regional perspective complements the selection of attractions and activities directly related to Feucht.
