For your trip planning in Mintraching, two distinct themes can be considered: the religious imagery tradition of the branch church of St. Margareth and the paths in the Isaraue natural forest. This lets you focus separately on cultural history, a walking route, or the regional course of the Isar Cycle Route.

Branch Church of St. Margareth and the Water Christ

The branch church of St. Margareth was consecrated in 1709. The high altar features statues of St. Margaret and St. Nicholas; the church also houses a PietĂ . Its consecration and works of art give the church a clear historical and art-historical focus.

The Mintraching Water Christ, a Gothic figure of the Man of Sorrows, is also associated with St. Margareth. It is linked to a local legend about a flood on the Isar. The figure is carried on annual pilgrimages to Altötting. Thus, the church’s works of art are complemented by a tradition connecting the Water Christ with local lore and a recurring pilgrimage.

Paths in the Isaraue Natural Forest

The Isaraue natural forest near Mintraching is accessible from the St 2053. The 9-kilometre-long Alte Seebachweg connects this access point with the area around Ismaning and allows walks through a large part of the southern forest. The route’s length and its connection to the area around Ismaning give the walking path a specific geographical context.

Between Munich and Landshut, the Isar Cycle Route follows the Isar through the Isaraue natural forest and continues north through the natural forest towards Moosburg. This distinguishes the Alte Seebachweg, with its stated length, from the regional river route: the former focuses on the walking path and its connection to the Ismaning area, while the latter follows the Isar between Munich and Landshut and continues towards Moosburg.
