If you are looking for a hotel for a trip to Günding, local themes can offer useful starting points for your planning: a trail along the Maisach, building history and a farm shop. There is also a longer cycling route with shorter sections. Cultural themes are available in the wider destination of Bergkirchen. You can use the differences outlined below to decide which of these places and activities are of interest during your stay.

Trail and cycling route

The “Lebensader Maisach” is an approximately 2.5-kilometre trail along the Maisach River between Bergkirchen and Günding. Eleven information stations line the route, along with interactive stations for children. Outdoor fitness equipment, a balancing area and a barefoot trail are located at SV Günding. The fitness equipment is available to visitors of different ages. This brings together information about the river, interactive features and opportunities to exercise. A beaver is also mentioned in connection with the Maisach section. Its length of approximately 2.5 kilometres gives you a specific point of comparison when considering the trail alongside a longer bike ride.

The “Räuber Kneißl Radweg” is an approximately 110-kilometre circular route divided into four sections, so you can also cycle shorter stages. For planning purposes, it is on a different scale from the trail: you can choose between shorter sections and the full circuit. Route information lists sights and e-bike charging stations along the way. “Kneißl rest stops” have bicycle repair equipment, and there are places to stop for refreshments in the municipalities. This route therefore focuses both on choosing the distance and on information about sights and cycling-related stops.

St. Vitus and the history of Günding

The Catholic branch church of St. Vitus is at St.-Vitus-Straße 8. As of 24 July 2026, the Bavarian List of Monuments classifies it as a historic monument and describes it as an Early Gothic choir-tower church dating from around 1300. The area around the church is also listed as containing underground medieval and early modern archaeological remains. Different historical layers therefore come together at this site.

Günding’s history also includes its hydroelectric power station, which generated electricity using water power. This historical connection with technology adds another aspect to the local history of its buildings.

Farm shop and food

If you would also like to take food shopping into account during your stay, the Maisingerhof farm shop is another point of interest. It sells raw milk, eggs, cheese, pasta and bread.

Culture in the wider destination of Bergkirchen

In Bergkirchen, the parish church of St. John the Baptist was rebuilt as a Baroque basilica from 1731 to 1734, on the foundations of two earlier churches, by Johann Michael Fischer. By comparison, the Early Gothic choir-tower church of St. Vitus in Günding belongs to a much earlier building period. The two churches thus offer different points of reference for architectural history, each associated with its own location.

The bronze sculpture “Girl with Book” stands on a stone bench in front of Bergkirchen Town Hall. The annual cultural programme of the municipality of Bergkirchen also includes theatre, concerts and art exhibitions; it has been compiled since 2003. The individual events vary from year to year. This distinction is useful when planning cultural activities: the churches and sculpture are specific points of interest, while the programme changes annually.
