Feldkirchen can be considered for a stay based on several specific interests. The S-Bahn provides a point of reference for journeys towards Erding and the city centre, Emmeram’s Chapel represents local tradition and architectural history, and Heimstettener See lies within the area of several municipalities. If you are looking for a hotel in Feldkirchen, these aspects can add different dimensions to your trip.

Getting there by S-Bahn

S-Bahn line S2 towards Erding serves Feldkirchen station. Towards the city centre, the S2 runs from Feldkirchen station to Marienplatz. This gives you two directions to consider, depending on your destination. Transport services may change, so check the current timetable and departures for your travel date before setting off. These directions provide an initial guide but do not replace checking your specific connection. This is particularly worthwhile if your visit is tied to a fixed appointment.

Emmeram’s Chapel and local tradition

Emmeram’s Chapel stands at the end of Emeranstraße, near the Feldkirchen town sign in the direction of Heimstetten. It is associated with a local tradition that also explains the history and name of Feldkirchen: Bishop Emmeram of Regensburg is said to have died at a crossroads in an isolated field. According to the tradition, this spot was where the present-day chapel stands; a small church was later built there. The story remains a tradition and should be distinguished from the dated architectural history of the chapel that stands there today.

The building still standing today is a small Neo-Gothic brick church. It was solemnly consecrated on the saint’s feast day, 22 September 1843. Two historical strands thus come together at the chapel: a local story about Emmeram and a precisely dated consecration. If you are interested in local history, this combination offers a particular point of interest. The architectural description places the little church in its stylistic context, while the consecration date marks a specific point in its history.

Heimstettener See within a shared municipal area

Heimstettener See lies within the areas of Kirchheim, Aschheim and Feldkirchen, forming part of a landscape shared by several municipalities. The area figures refer to the entire lake: 236,000 m² in total, of which 110,000 m² is water and 126,000 m² is land; 69,000 m² is sunbathing lawn. The developed shoreline is approximately 1,600 metres long. Unlike the individual Emmeram’s Chapel, the lake is a regional point of reference, and its measurements are not assigned to any one municipality’s section. This lets you understand both Feldkirchen’s local connection and the lake’s shared character.

Exercise and cultural events

You can train for free at the calisthenics facility on Wiesenweg (Jahnstraße/Pfarrer-Axenböck-Straße), building strength and endurance. The facility offers a specific way to incorporate exercise into your stay. You can consider it as a separate activity alongside the chapel’s history and the lake’s landscape setting.

Tickets for cultural events are available online in advance, as well as directly from the municipal library and at the information desk in the town hall. Ticket arrangements may change, so check the latest event information before buying tickets. This allows you to plan a possible cultural event as a specific part of your itinerary without conflating it with the other local attractions.
