Local history: first mention and the “Aicherloh” farm

Eicherloh was first mentioned in a document at the end of the 11th century, in connection with the transfer of a farm to Freising Cathedral Chapter. Five families from the Palatinate, from Wörth am Rhein, are regarded as Eicherloh’s founders and acquired the “Aicherloh” farm in 1828. The early mention and the purchase of the farm relate to different contexts: the first concerns Eicherloh in connection with a farm transfer, while the second concerns the acquisition of the named farm by the families regarded as its founders. Many centuries lie between these events. The 1828 farm purchase should therefore not be equated with the first documentary mention.

Schoolhouse and church

An altar niche was built into the new schoolhouse in Eicherloh in 1933/34. Once construction was complete, services could be held there. The Church of the Assumption of Mary in Eicherloh was consecrated on 27 July 1958 by Auxiliary Bishop Dr. Johannes Neuhäusler. These mark two distinct stages in the town’s religious history: the possibility of holding services in the completed schoolhouse, and the later consecration of the church.
