Dienhausen: Cycling, ponds and nature experiences
Accommodation in Dienhausen
Dienhausen for days in nature and outdoor activities
Dienhausen offers a range of options for your stay: a cycling route, the Dienhauser Weiher, which is used for swimming, places to visit and events in the district. Depending on your interests, you can focus on exercise and nature, an excursion or an event. The routes and destinations differ in their starting points, itineraries and practical conditions. This lets you plan around the activities that interest you most while you are here.
Cycling routes with different itineraries
The municipality’s environmental report dated 24 July 2024 describes a cycle path leading from Schwabsoien through the Dienhauser Tal and along Weihertalstraße to Dienhausen, then continuing via Bachweg to Denklingen. The report states that the section through the Dienhauser Tal and Dienhausen has been part of the Romantic Road since 2011. This designation applies to the section through the valley and the village. To help with orientation, you can divide the route as described into the stretch to Dienhausen and the continuation via Bachweg to Denklingen.
Another named route is the Wälder- und Weihertour. It continues from the Dienhauser Weiher to Dienhausen; check local conditions and signage before setting out. In terms of orientation, the difference between this route and the cycle path lies in the reference points given: the cycle path is described as connecting Schwabsoien, Dienhausen and the onward route to Denklingen, while the Wälder- und Weihertour starts at the pond and leads to Dienhausen. The different starting and ending points make it easier to plan the two routes separately.
Pond, chapel and memorials
The Dienhauser Weiher is used for swimming. If you plan to swim, check the local conditions before your visit. The Kreszenzia Chapel near Dienhausen is a popular destination, including for cyclists. As access information can change, check the latest access conditions before setting out.
In connection with the 2014 jubilee restoration, three reminders of the former “Waldhaus period” were documented: a shelter hut, a solid memorial stone and two large information boards.
Events in the district
Village festivals are among the events held in the Dienhausen district throughout the year. If you would like to plan your stay around a festival, check the specific dates before your trip.
Denklingen as the wider destination
The wider destination of Denklingen offers other options for planning your trip. Cross-country skiing is part of its sports and leisure activities, and St. Michael’s Parish Church is a landmark of Denklingen that can be seen from afar. The Denklingen Forest Cooperative’s forest adventure trail runs between Denklingen and Dienhausen and offers nature and leisure experiences. Some sections cross steep terrain and have steps and railings; the trail is not suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs. If you plan to visit this trail, check its access conditions beforehand, as they may change if the route is modified.
