Rudelzhausen can be explored through its several districts and diverse attractions: cycle routes in and around the municipality, the municipal outdoor pool in Tegernbach, and religious buildings at their respective locations. When planning your trip, it is worth distinguishing between these places. This lets you shape your stay around exercise, a visit to the seasonal outdoor pool, or chapels and a church.

Cycle Routes in and Around Rudelzhausen

There are local cycle routes in and around Rudelzhausen, as well as longer-distance routes such as the Abens Cycle Path. These routes can also be used by hikers, walkers and inline skaters. Distinguishing between local routes and longer-distance routes helps you plan according to the kind of route you want; the Abens Cycle Path is one named example of a longer-distance route. Check local route information before setting out, as the network may change.

The Outdoor Pool in the District of Tegernbach

The municipal outdoor pool is located in Tegernbach, a district of Rudelzhausen. It has a large swimming pool and a separate children's pool with a sun sail. The spacious sunbathing lawn has free parasols, and there is also a beach volleyball court. Children can play on a wooden toy tractor and a leaf-shaped balance beam. As well as pools, the outdoor pool therefore has areas for relaxing and opportunities for play and exercise. A kiosk offers light meals and drinks.

Opening days and hours are seasonal. Check them before your visit. As facilities may change and the kiosk's availability should be confirmed locally, get up-to-date information in advance.

Schimmel Chapel and Parish Church

The Chapel of St. Stephen is in Enzelhausen, a district of Rudelzhausen, and is also known as Schimmel Chapel. It was first mentioned by name in 1590. A visit is possible by arranging an appointment in advance with the Rudelzhausen parish office. If you would like to visit the chapel, arrange your appointment with the parish office beforehand.

The parish church of the Assumption of Mary is in Kirchdorf, the oldest district of Rudelzhausen. Two place names are therefore useful for orientation: Enzelhausen for Schimmel Chapel and Kirchdorf for the parish church. The chapel's earliest recorded mention places it in a historical context; for the parish church, Kirchdorf's status as the municipality's oldest district provides a clear sense of location.

Freising: Distinctive Cultural and Natural Attractions

Freising offers a distinctive cultural experience. The historic old town features burghers' and canons' houses dating from the Gothic period through to the Baroque, clustered around Marienplatz, where the Marian Column from 1674 also stands. On Domberg, Freising Cathedral has a crypt and the Beast Column. The Freising City Museum presents around 350 selected objects and groups of objects relating to the city's history. The cityscape, cathedral and museum each highlight different aspects of the city's history.

The Amper Valley in the district of Freising also offers a distinctive natural setting. It is designated as a landscape conservation area and is used as a local recreation area for hiking and cycling. The valley is home to numerous animal and plant species that are especially worthy of protection, including four of the 16 dragonfly species in Bavaria that are threatened with extinction. The natural landscape and the city's history are thus two distinct themes in the Freising area.
