Regnitzlosau – Circular Routes and St. Ägidien
Accommodation in Regnitzlosau
Regnitzlosau offers two circular routes of different lengths, both returning to the Sparkasse car park. There is also the Baroque St. Ägidien Church in the town center. Nearby, the Kolonnenweg passes Galgenberg. When planning your trip, you can therefore consider route length, cultural attractions, and a nearby point of interest as different priorities.
Two circular routes with different waypoints
The 4.5 km Losauer circular route begins at the Sparkasse car park and runs via Unterer Mühlweg, Hopfenmühlleite, and the fishponds to the wooden bridge over the Regnitz. It then continues via Trogenauer Weg, Lerchenweg, and Hohenvierschau to Alte Hofer Straße and the Catholic Church. The route returns to the Sparkasse car park via Gartenstraße and Steig.
The 9.3 km Kirchsteigweg also starts at the Sparkasse car park and runs via Hauptstraße, Schulstraße, Flurweg, and Kirchsteig. Its waypoints include the naturist area, the water tower, Raitschin, and the group of five trees. The route then passes Schöpferloh and Brauhausgasse before returning to the car park.
The difference in length is 4.8 km, making the Kirchsteigweg the longer of the two options. Both start and finish at the Sparkasse car park, making it easy to compare them by distance. Their waypoints also differ: the fishponds and the wooden bridge over the Regnitz are on the Losauer circular route, while the Kirchsteigweg includes, among other things, the naturist area, the water tower, and a group of five trees. This lets you consider the named stops as well as distance when making your choice.
Baroque features at St. Ägidien
The Baroque church of St. Ägidien is in the town center of Regnitzlosau. Its pulpit altar was created in 1743 by the Hof sculptor Wolfgang Adam Knoll for 220 guilders. A pulpit altar combines the pulpit and altar in a single structure; the term thus refers to a particular form of church furnishing. The church ceiling is adorned with more than a hundred paintings depicting scenes from the New Testament. This places a single work with a named artist and date of creation alongside an extensive series of biblical motifs. For travelers interested in Baroque church art, it is a distinct cultural attraction, separate from planning the circular routes.
Kolonnenweg and Galgenberg nearby
Nearby, the Kolonnenweg runs between Regnitzlosau and Nentschau, passing directly by Galgenberg not far from Ziegelhütte. Galgenberg is a nature reserve and also a former execution site. These designations refer to two different aspects of the site: its protected status and its historical use. The locations also differ geographically: St. Ägidien is in the town center, while Galgenberg is nearby and can be reached via the Kolonnenweg between Regnitzlosau and Nentschau. This lets you distinguish, when planning, between a cultural attraction in town and a nearby destination along the described route.
