Neuhaus combines a clearly scheduled cultural event with pilgrimage, hiking, and cycling routes. The Schorndorf amateur theater group performs at Neuhaus Castle in July; the Längseugen Trail and several cycle paths also pass through Neuhaus. To decide whether Neuhaus is right for your stay, consider its different attractions: the theater performance takes place in July, while the trails can be assessed by activity, distance, or route.

Theater and Pilgrimage

At “Theater at Neuhaus Castle,” the Schorndorf amateur theater group stages thought-provoking folk theater every July. Against the backdrop of the Neuhaus castle ruins, it performs plays by Georg Maier. Since 1997, the group has held a firm place in the series of East Bavarian festivals. The dates refer to different things: July is the month of the performances, while 1997 marks the beginning of the group’s established place in the festival series. If you are planning your trip around a performance, check the latest performance details in advance. The MMC-owned “Maria Rosenöd” pilgrimage site in Neuhaus near Schorndorf was consecrated in 1950. The Festival Cycle Route also refers to the theater: “Theater at the Castle” in Neuhaus near Schorndorf is partly the source of its name.

Hiking, Cycling, and Bus Travel

The Längseugen Trail passes through Neuhaus and is a shady forest hiking trail with wonderful viewpoints; the Hundshaut Trail also passes through Neuhaus. The cycling routes offer different points of reference: Route 28 is of moderate difficulty and 33.9 kilometers long. The Sattelbogen–Neuhaus cycle path passes through Obergoßzell and Neuhaus and connects to the Festival Cycle Route. Route 28 can therefore be assessed by its length and difficulty, while the route and connection are the key points for the Sattelbogen–Neuhaus link. For travel by bus, Route 180 connects Sattelbogen, Neuhaus, Thierling, and Cham; check the current timetable before you travel.
