Stimpfach can be planned from several angles: the “3 Valleys” cycling route, hiking options of varying lengths and the opportunity to swim at the Reiglersbach Reservoir offer specific focal points. When looking for a hotel in Stimpfach, it helps to decide first whether cycling, hiking or spending time by the water will shape your stay. The routes mentioned differ not only in length, but also in surface, course and landscape.

Cycling and long-distance trails

The “3 Valleys” cycling route in the municipality of Stimpfach is around 32 kilometres long. The 3 Valleys route runs mainly along gravel tracks and occasionally on paved paths. Appropriate equipment, knowledge and experience are required. The information about the surface is therefore just as important when choosing as the approximate distance: if you plan to ride this route, you should take the stated requirements into account. Route details and trail conditions may change; check the latest information before setting out.

The European long-distance hiking trail E8 runs through the eastern part of the municipality. The 193-kilometre Kocher-Jagst Trail passes directly through Stimpfach; the Jagst Valley provides the setting for this trail. For the 3 Valleys route, the approximate distance and surface are the main considerations; for the E8, its eastern route; and for the Kocher-Jagst Trail, its overall length and the Jagst Valley as its landscape setting. This makes it possible to distinguish between the routes based on their different features, without treating them as equivalent.

Hiking around Stimpfach

The signposted Hochwart Trail is 8 kilometres long. It runs along the heights around Stimpfach and offers views of the Jagst Valley. A 15-kilometre hike leads through the Reiglersbach Valley landscape conservation area. Compared directly, the Hochwart Trail is the shorter of the two routes mentioned; the longer trail can be distinguished by its route through the named protected area. This gives you two specific features to compare when choosing: the shorter route with views of the Jagst Valley, and the longer hike through the Reiglersbach Valley.

Reiglersbach Reservoir and campsite

Swimming is possible in the Reiglersbach Reservoir, which covers an area of 6 hectares. The campsite at the Reiglersbach Reservoir in Stimpfach and its facilities may be used only for recreation and nature-oriented leisure activities. The municipal regulation on this was adopted in 2025 and came into force on 1 May 2025.

A cultural focus of its own: Schwäbisch Hall

The broader destination of Schwäbisch Hall has its own urban cultural focus. The historic old town combines almost unchanged medieval lanes with a partially preserved town wall, numerous towers, covered wooden bridges, many stairways and stepped lanes, as well as a historic market square. The Hällisch-Fränkisches Museum is housed in seven historic buildings. St. Nicholas Collegiate Church at Großcomburg Monastery contains a Romanesque wheel chandelier; the Kunsthalle Würth in Schwäbisch Hall opened in 2001. Thus, Stimpfach’s cycling and hiking options and reservoir offer a distinct contrast to Schwäbisch Hall’s historic and cultural highlights.
