Simmersfeld offers signposted trails and cycling routes, seasonal winter activities, and distinctive architectural and landscape features.

Hiking, cycling and water treading

Simmersfeld has 90 km of signposted hiking trails. As the total distance may change, check the latest route information before planning a specific hike. Two signposted cycling routes offer further options: a family tour and a tour for sporty cyclists. Their names help you choose the type of tour you’re looking for in advance. Route details may change; check them before setting out.

You can reach the water-treading facility in the Köllbachtal valley on foot or by bicycle via the Köllbachweg, heading downhill. If you include this destination in your outing, you can add the stated route directly to your plans.

Winter activities

The municipality’s cross-country ski trail network covers 39.5 km: 37.5 km of classic trails and 2.0 km of skating trails. Classic trails account for the larger share; the breakdown shows the two types available and their respective lengths. There is also a 250 m-long toboggan run between Lift I and Lift II. The trail network and toboggan run are two different winter activities. Both depend on snow; check local conditions before your trip.

Architectural history and landscape

St. John’s Church was rebuilt on the same site between 1886 and 1889. The former building’s unusual chancel layout was preserved—a structural detail that links the reconstruction to the older church.

The Schnaitbach forms where its two source streams, the Zugbach and Wolfsbach, meet at the bend in the valley along the road from Simmersfeld to FĂĽnfbronn. The Schnaitbachtal valley lies near the Simmersfeld destination, on the border between the districts of Calw and Freudenstadt. The valley features remains of Schildeck Castle, the SchildmĂĽhle grain mill, and six sawmills.
