Saint-Bris-Des-Bois offers several ways to plan your trip: outdoor activities, cultural heritage and the landscape of Vallée du Coran. At Parc Aventure de la Vallée de Fontdouce, the focus is on climbing courses and zip lines, while Abbaye de Fontdouce offers exhibitions and fun activities. Église Saint-Brice combines a history of construction dating back to the 11th century with a later statue of the Virgin Mary. In the valley, protected-area designations go hand in hand with opportunities for sport and recreation. This lets you choose the focus that best suits your interests.

Get active outdoors: courses, puzzles and escape games

Parc Aventure de la Vallée de Fontdouce offers treetop climbing courses for children aged three and up. There are also two parallel zip lines, each 200 metres long. The activities therefore differ in format: you can choose between treetop courses and the two equally long zip lines. Age limits and operating arrangements may change, and the facilities themselves may also be updated over time. Check the current conditions before your visit.

Abbaye de Fontdouce offers themed exhibitions, puzzle trails suitable for families, and outdoor escape games. The formats offer different experiences: alongside visiting exhibitions, there are puzzles and outdoor games. If you are choosing an activity for the family, the puzzle trails are specifically described as suitable for families. The seasonal programme may change. Check the dates in advance and whether the activity you want requires a reservation.

Architectural history and religious heritage

Église Saint-Brice was built from rubble stone in the 11th century and remodelled in the 12th century. Rubble stone refers to irregularly broken or roughly dressed stones. Together with the remodelling in a later century, this building material offers a tangible way into the church’s history: the building is associated not just with a single date, but with several successive phases.

The church contains an 18th-century polychrome statue of the Virgin Mary and Child. It comes from Abbaye de Fontdouce and is the focus of a pilgrimage. Different periods therefore come together in this place: the church’s medieval building history and the statue, created later. Église Saint-Brice is open every day throughout the year and admission is free; local changes are possible. Check the latest opening information before your visit.

Vallée du Coran: a natural area and place for recreation

Vallée du Coran is designated as a ZNIEFF and a Natura 2000 site. It is also home to the rare European mink; its presence may change over time. These designations and wildlife give the valley a different focus from the climbing or heritage activities: here, nature and landscape take centre stage, though this does not guarantee a sighting of the mink.

Activities in Vallée du Coran include fishing, swimming, mountain biking and various other sports. The range includes both water-based activities and cycling, as well as other sporting opportunities. If you plan your trip around a particular activity, you can make the valley a focus in its own right; Église Saint-Brice offers a different approach to architectural history and religious heritage. This way, each type of outing can be enjoyed on its own terms without conflating the different activities.
