Discover Fay-de-Bretagne
Accommodation in Fay-de-Bretagne
Fay-de-Bretagne offers several concrete points to consider when planning a trip: the Étangs de la Madeleine, with fishing opportunities and marked walking trails; landmarks of local heritage; and the Circuit Automobile de Loire Atlantique. This makes it easy to choose what interests you about the destination. If you’re looking for hotels, you can start by deciding whether walking and fishing, heritage, or the Circuit Automobile will be the main focus of your trip.
Walking and fishing at the Étangs de la Madeleine
Fishing is possible at the Étangs de la Madeleine. Marked walking trails of 10, 20, and 25 km start at the Salle des Étangs by the ponds. The three routes offer a direct comparison of distances: 10 km is the shortest, 25 km is the longest, and 20 km is in between. You can use the indicated route distance when planning your walk. The Étangs also offer a view of the 19th-century Chapelle de la Madeleine. This view adds a clearly identified historic landmark to the route information.
Heritage in Fay-de-Bretagne
The Croix de Mérimont is made of wrought iron and was restored by the Histoire et Patrimoine association. The Croix de Mérimont was moved to the town hall gardens. The Histoire et Patrimoine Fayens association is dedicated to documenting, restoring, and preserving Fay-de-Bretagne’s minor heritage. The Église Saint-Martin in Fay-de-Bretagne houses a processional banner depicting Saint Martin and Saint Madeleine. Since December 1, 1998, the processional banner has been listed as a protected object. For the Croix, the material, restoration, and relocation are connected; for the banner, it is its location in the church and its protected status.
An exhibition on local history and heritage was also planned: Histoire et Patrimoine Fayens scheduled it for September 28 and 29, 2024, at the Salle des Étangs. Admission to the exhibition was free. The dated event and the historical objects offer different ways to explore the commune’s heritage.
Routes with different points of reference
The Circuit du Pont Bernard passes through Fay-de-Bretagne and Notre-Dame-des-Landes. This is a different route reference from the marked walking trails starting at the Salle des Étangs: there, you can choose from three distances; here, the route is defined by the communes it passes through. When comparing routes for your trip, you therefore have two different points of reference—distance on the one hand, and the places along the route on the other.
