Tocqueville-en-Caux is in Normandy, in the Pays de Caux. Three themes can help you choose a hotel and plan your stay: the Saâne and its wetlands, trails and outdoor experiences, and Église Saint-Pierre. This can help you decide in advance whether scenery, an outdoor activity or local history will shape your stay. Some options are in the village, while others are in the surrounding area, and they differ considerably in focus.

Scenery and wetlands along the Saâne

The ZNIEFF Vallée de la Sâane lists Tocqueville-en-Caux as a municipality concerned by the inventory. A planning document published in 2025 gives the inventory’s total area as 4,410 hectares, of which 3,982 hectares are in the Terroir de Caux area. These figures indicate the scope of the inventory; for precise guidance on its boundaries, check current official data.

A description from June 2023 notes that, after two years, a diverse range of wildlife and plant life had already developed in the Petite Ville wetland. This is a time-specific observation about a particular wetland. It complements the broader inventory figure, though the two describe different things.

Walking trails and experiences in the surrounding area

A discovery walk on 24 June 2023 followed the GR212 to Petite Ville, offering views of the Saâne’s meanders. The example connects the river landscape with a walk and also provides a specific point of reference for the trail’s route.

Nearby, the Sentier pédagogique du Marais de Longueil introduces visitors to wetland flora and fauna; the nature trail is free to access. Also in the surrounding area, the Moulin de l’Arbalète offers a chance to discover a working watermill using virtual reality. At Rêve de Bisons, visitors can tour the bison farm and deer park in a military 4x4.

Fishing is another way to enjoy the Saâne: there are nine first-category fishing stretches in the valley, including one in Tocqueville-en-Caux. The activities differ in nature: the GR212 offers a walk, the nature trail focuses on wetlands, and the mill and Rêve de Bisons offer experiences involving virtual reality and a 4x4 ride, respectively.

Église Saint-Pierre and its furnishings

Église Saint-Pierre was rebuilt between 1781 and 1862. The altarpiece on the retable dates from 1864 and was donated by Napoleon III. The church also contains two polychrome stone works from the 16th century: a Madonna of Calvary and a pulpit dedicated to Saint Peter. The furnishings thus bring together different periods: the stone works date from the 16th century, while the rebuilding and altarpiece belong to the late 18th and 19th centuries.
