Château d'Hugleville, Église paroissiale Notre-Dame, the park and Circuit N°15: Dans le bois de Grosfy offer different points of interest for a stay in Hugleville-en-Caux. Historical building phases, botanical features and a walking route with a rest stop each provide a specific starting point.

Château d'Hugleville and Église paroissiale Notre-Dame

Today's Château d'Hugleville is an estate dating from the 19th century. After a fire in the 19th century, it was rebuilt in the 1890s. Traces left by German forces during the 1939–1945 war have also been preserved at the château, including remnants of German paint and a V2 launch ramp. The estate's building history and its surviving traces of war therefore relate to distinct historical themes associated with the château.

Only the bell tower remains of the 11th-century Église paroissiale Notre-Dame. A complete renovation of the church in the 16th century was evidenced by an inscription dated 1518; this renovation was entirely lost when the church was rebuilt in 1754. An architectural feature from the 11th century thus stands alongside a later building phase that was not preserved. This sequence highlights the differences between the older tower, the 16th-century renovation and the 1754 reconstruction.

Park and sculpture

The park at Château d'Hugleville features a collection of hydrangeas and numerous rare plant species. It is also home to 350-year-old copper beeches. Hydrangeas, rare plants and old trees each make their own contribution: the collection and rare species point to botanical diversity, while the age of the copper beeches draws attention to individual trees. If you are interested in gardens and nature, these features give the park a distinctive character.

The “Saint Nicolas” sculpture group is made of carved, polychrome-painted stone. In this work, the stone's carving and its multicoloured finish go together. This adds a perspective on materials and design alongside the architectural history.

Circuit N°15: Dans le bois de Grosfy

The Circuit N°15: Dans le bois de Grosfy walking route passes through the hamlets and woods of Hugleville-en-Caux and Butot. In Hugleville-en-Caux, a picnic table beside a pond on Rue des mares provides a place to rest halfway along the route. The tour thus includes both stretches through hamlets and woodland and a specific place to take a break. If you would like to include a walking route in your travel plans, you can consider this combination as a focus in its own right, alongside the cultural and garden-related attractions. The picnic table serves as a rest stop halfway along the route.

Consider which of these interests you would like to shape your stay before looking for hotels.
