Cléon brings together performing arts and library offerings with sports, leisure and natural areas. Its architectural and industrial history also gives the destination a variety of facets. When planning a stay, you can therefore consider whether cultural events, physical activity or a look at the town’s history is your priority.

Performing arts, music and culture in Cléon

La Traverse is a theater and event venue with capacity for up to 650 spectators. Almost forty events are scheduled there each season, including blues, urban music and dance, theater, and performances for young audiences. The line-up changes from season to season. Blues is central to the venue’s identity; this includes the Blues de Traverse festival. If you want to plan your trip around a particular concert or festival, check the current dates separately.

Another cultural destination is the Médiathèque George Sand. Its collection includes more than 24,000 titles, regularly updated. Visitors can seek advice from librarians, and events encourage exchange between generations. Event dates may vary.

Cléon en Scène takes place every year at the beginning of summer on Place Saint-Roch. This major festive and cultural event marks the start of the season with a program that may change from year to year. Check the dates if you would like to plan your stay around the event.

Saint-Martin Church and the town’s history

The present-day Saint-Martin Church was built in the 16th and 17th centuries; its nave was rebuilt in the Gothic style in 1887. Its Latin-cross floor plan and unfinished bell tower are other distinctive features. The church thus reveals building phases from different centuries.

Bas-Cléon also tells the story of the town’s development along the Seine. The hamlet developed from the 16th century near a manor house that no longer exists. Until the beginning of the 20th century, shipbuilding, fishing and inland navigation were important activities there. The town’s industrial history also includes the Renault automobile plant on Rue de Tourville: it was established in Cléon in the late 1950s and specialized in manufacturing engine and transmission parts.

Sport and leisure

L'Oasis is located on Rue du Docteur-Villers in Cléon. Operated by the metropolitan authority, this sports, leisure and recreation complex includes a swimming pool and an ice rink. Its two indoor pools include a wave pool and a leisure pool; the latter is described as suitable for all ages and skill levels. The ice rink covers 800 m². With support from staff, visitors can learn to skate and enjoy skating there. Opening times and access rules may change; check the latest information before your visit.

À l'Abordage, a family play area, is located in the Parc des Sports et des Loisirs Micheline Ostermeyer. The play equipment may change. Joggers and walkers can use the park, which also has a 3×3 basketball court. A fitness area gives active visitors another place to work out.

The Parcours Santé in the Ostermeyer sports complex has 14 stations designed to meet users’ physiological needs. An information board and educational signs explain the movements and show the connection between the stations. The course is used by both beginners and experienced athletes.

Natural areas and trails

Lac Patin is a rich ecosystem with a diverse range of wildlife and plant life. The lake also provides various species with favorable conditions for feeding and reproduction. Those interested in nature and habitats will find a different focus here from the venues, church or sports facilities.

Le Sentier des abeilles includes an edible forest and an educational trail. The trail has a soft, accessible surface. Along with the leisure and cultural offerings, this natural area shows how varied a stay in Cléon can be.
