Auberville-la-Renault brings together village history, church heritage, and routes for exploring the area. If you are looking for a hotel for a stay here, these topics can help you see how the village fits your travel plans: information ranges from the opening schedule of the Église Saint-Maclou to cycling and hiking routes, as well as activities in the surrounding area. This gives both culture enthusiasts and travelers interested in outdoor activities specific points to consider when making their choice.

Church, Local History, and Remembrance

The village of Auberville-la-Renault was first mentioned in the 13th century. The Église Saint-Maclou is open on the first Sunday of every month. It remains uncertain whether the church was given to Boscherville Abbey in the 11th or 12th century, or whether it belonged to the Duchy of Longueville at that time.

A war memorial and the graves of seven airmen are located in the churchyard of Auberville-la-Renault: two belonged to the Royal Air Force and five to the Royal Canadian Air Force. Alongside its ecclesiastical and medieval associations, the village is therefore also home to a specific place of remembrance connected with the history of the Second World War.

Local legend tells of a river that disappeared, an event attributed to the intervention of a fairy. According to the legend, the mill stopped when the river disappeared. In local lore, the story of the fairy and the fate of the mill are thus directly linked.

Cycling and Hiking

The La Vélocauchoise cycling route is signposted as far as the exit from Auberville-la-Renault; check the current signs before setting off. At the wayside cross, a marked cycling route towards Sauville points to the green-signposted circuit des clos-masures loop. The directions therefore use different reference points: the village exit in one case, and the direction of Sauville and the loop in the other.

Outside Auberville-la-Renault, in the surrounding area, the Écomusée de la Pomme et du Cidre is located in Bretteville-du-Grand-Caux. This farm museum produces cider and other products, and offers tours of the farm and cider production. Unlike Annouv'Equid's horse-riding activities, the focus here is on agricultural production.
