You can weigh up whether architectural history, a walk, a green space or a morning at the market will be the deciding factor in planning your trip.

Collégiale Notre-Dame and Château de Bosmelet

The Collégiale Notre-Dame in Auffay dates from the 11th and 12th centuries and is protected as a historic monument. It is open to the public daily; check the visiting arrangements in advance, as they may change. A free audio commentary is available in several languages; check its availability on site. The tower houses the 17th-century Jacquemarts Houzou, Bénard and Paquet Sivière. This means you can distinguish two periods at the same church: its medieval origins and the later-dated figures in the tower. The names of the Jacquemarts also give you a specific detail to look out for during your visit.

Château de Bosmelet is near Auffay and was built around 1632 for Jean Beuzelin, a member of the parliament in Rouen. It is partly classified as a historic monument and partly listed as one. The château displays the Alain Germain collection of costume designs, sculptures, furnishings and stage sets. This collection brings together designs, three-dimensional objects and stage sets, drawing attention to different forms of stage design. The château also has a chapel and remains from the Second World War. You can walk through the walled garden and along the park’s avenues; access arrangements may vary seasonally. Compared with the Collégiale, which dates from the 11th and 12th centuries, the château, built around 1632, points to a different historical period.

Walking tour, garden and market

The “Auffay à pied” route is designated as a cultural and historical walk, 3 km long and lasting no more than an hour. It is accessible to everyone and does not follow unpaved paths. This gives you specific details about distance, duration and surface to help with your planning. Three signposted walking routes and one signposted cycling route start in the town centre. You can choose between a named cultural and historical walking tour and marked routes on foot or by bike.

Auffay’s public garden is now called Espace Thomas Pesquet and is open year-round. Local maintenance may affect its condition. If you plan to make the garden a fixed part of your itinerary, check its condition before your visit. As a public garden, it complements the cultural and historical attractions with another place to spend time outdoors.

Auffay’s market takes place on Friday mornings in the town centre. The current agenda lists the Friday market series through 25 December 2026 inclusive; a wide selection of fresh produce is on offer. If a morning at the market fits your travel plans, you can schedule your visit for a Friday during this period and check the specific date.

Historic railway connection

Auffay’s railway history on the Rouen–Dieppe line dates back to 1847. For specific rail travel plans, please check current connections and timetables. The historic buildings, the walking tour with its stated distance, the garden and the market offer different points of reference to help you decide which aspects of Auffay matter most for your stay.
