Historic buildings, trails at Mont Castre, a nearby natural landscape and a regular market give La Haye-Du-Puits a range of different highlights. When looking for a hotel in La Haye-Du-Puits, you can plan your stay around whether local history, routes or nature is your priority.

History at the keep, château and church

The Donjon de La Haye is an 11th-century defensive tower and the only surviving part of the former fortified site, with its moats. The exterior is visible; access to the interior is closed for safety reasons. An information panel on site explains the keep. Check the access conditions again before your trip. The remains of the medieval castle are also among the sights in La Haye-du-Puits.

The Château de La Haye was renovated in the 16th century under Arthur de Magneville. Its Renaissance-style door is visible from the road. The buildings are private and not open to visitors.

The Eglise de La Haye is a 19th-century neo-Gothic church in the commercial centre of La Haye-du-Puits. It houses the black marble Renaissance-style tomb of Arthur de Magneville, which is classified as a historic monument. The tip of the south tower of the Eglise de La Haye was destroyed in 1944 and never rebuilt. The buildings therefore reflect different historical layers: from the 11th-century defensive tower through the Renaissance to the neo-Gothic church and the destruction of 1944. The church thus brings together neo-Gothic architecture and the Renaissance style of the tomb.

Routes and nature

The Voie verte Saint-Sauveur-le-Vicomte–La Haye-du-Puits is 15 kilometres long and follows a former railway line lined with trees. The discovery trail at Mont Castre has nine stops. The Mont-Castre mountain biking loop runs from La Haye-du-Puits towards Lithaire; this easy route is 12 kilometres long. When planning your route, you can weigh up different features: the railway line and tree cover along the Voie verte, and the distance and easy rating of the mountain biking loop.
