Lasson offers several specific points of interest for a stay: the Château, Église Saint-Pierre, the history of the Second World War, as well as hiking trails and road races. When planning, it is helpful to distinguish between architectural history, historical remembrance and a particular activity. This will help you decide what you want to focus your trip on before looking for hotels.

Château and Église Saint-Pierre

At the Château de Lasson, the heritage protection measures differ by date and building section. An order dated 17 July 1917 classified the château as a historic monument, with the exception of the outbuilding in the southwest square pavilion. A further order dated 7 April 1975 listed the façades and roofs of the outbuilding. The two dates therefore relate to different sections and protection measures.

At Église Saint-Pierre, the main building phase and the possible dating of the first nave should be distinguished. The main building phase is attributed to the 14th century. The first nave, on the other hand, could date from the end of the pre-Romanesque period or from the 11th century; this early dating remains a possibility. The bell tower was entered in the register of historic monuments by order dated 16 May 1927. The statue of Saint Peter also has its own dating: the polychrome limestone statue dates from the 15th century and was classified as a historic monument by ministerial order dated 15 December 2000. “Polychrome” refers to its multicoloured finish, while “limestone” identifies its material. After its restoration was completed, the statue was placed in the bell tower behind protective grilles.

Lasson was among the villages of the new commune of Rots that were at the centre of the battle in June 1944.

Hiking Trails and Road Races

The CHEMINS DE LA MUE hiking trail starts in Lasson. The Du Chiromme à la Mue route is associated with the commune of Lasson and, according to a route description updated in February 2021, passes through villages with remarkable architecture and countryside along the Chiromme and the Mue. Check the latest route details and trail markings before setting out.

Les Foulées de la Mue are road races organised by Association La MUSE (MUe, Sport et Environnement). They are listed in the official calendar of the Fédération Française d’Athlétisme, are open to everyone and start at the Centre d’animation de Lasson–Rosel. Future editions and arrangements may change, so check the current event calendar before your trip.

Plan Your Stay Around Your Activity

For your travel plans, it makes a difference whether you are mainly interested in architectural history and heritage protection or are planning a race or a hike. When choosing a hotel for a stay in Lasson, you can first decide on this focus: a race is tied to an event date, while up-to-date route details are important for the trails. This allows you to plan your travel dates around your specific reason for visiting.
