Bachy can be explored through two themes: cultural history and walking. The Musée d’Antan, the Church of Saint-Éloi and several chapels offer historical points of interest. In addition, there are two walking options with different route lengths.

Everyday History at the Musée d’Antan

The Musée d’Antan preserves more than 550 objects. Its reconstructions include a kitchen from the 1900s, a dining room and a bedroom from 1950, as well as a classroom. The exhibition combines collection items with recreated everyday spaces: the kitchen, dining room and bedroom illustrate domestic settings, while the classroom adds a school environment. Alongside the objects themselves, the rooms offer you concrete insights into different aspects of everyday life.

The museum is open to schools year-round. Individuals and walking groups can visit during Heritage Days and by appointment; admission is free. If you are planning a visit, check the arrangements before travelling.

Church and Chapels: Different Periods in Time

The first written mention of the Church of Saint-Éloi dates from 1466; at the time, it was described as a ruin. Two of the Tenremonde family’s five funerary monuments are located in the church.

The Chapelle Bourbotte was built between 1886 and 1903 and restored by the municipality in early 2019. The Chapelle Choquet stands on the present-day site of the Vierge Bleue. It replaced the destroyed Chapelle aux Accouts, which had been built around 1791 on the site of an old manor house on the Motte de Bachy.

The buildings represent different periods in time: the mention of Saint-Éloi dates back to 1466; the Chapelle aux Accouts belongs to the earlier sequence of chapels, while the construction period and restoration of the Chapelle Bourbotte are documented. This distinction helps you keep the histories of the individual buildings separate, rather than reading them as the history of a single religious building.

Walks with Different Route Lengths

The audio walk “Dans les pas de Monique” is 10.7 km long. The “Circuit des chapelles” loop is 6 km long and takes approximately two hours. At 6 km, the Circuit is shorter than the audio walk; its estimated duration is approximate. The route conditions may vary seasonally. Check them before setting out for the time of year you plan to visit.

Bourloire, Farm Shop and Landscape

The Bourloire de Bachy is a venue specially designed for the traditional game of bourles. Access is available through club activities, during training sessions or events, or to club members; there are no regular public opening hours. If you would like to include this venue in your plans, enquire in advance about visiting arrangements.

The Ferme Delporte offers direct sales of agricultural products in Bachy. As the selection and arrangements may change, check in advance what is currently available and how direct sales are organised if you are interested. As another point of interest in the landscape, the Elnon rises on the border between Bachy and Cobrieux.
