Le Vigan combines cultural and historical sights with two activities designed in different ways: an immersive audio walking tour that you can complete on foot or by bicycle, and the Circuit de Pochy, a circular hiking route. If you are looking for a hotel in Le Vigan, these themes can help structure your trip planning. Churches and architectural history, a walking tour with a set duration, and a hike offer different focuses. Before booking, consider which of these best suits your stay.

Churches and architectural history

The Collégiale Notre Dame de l'Assomption du Vigan was classified as a historic monument by decree on 18 October 1893. At the Abbatiale Notre-Dame de l'Assomption, the choir's three apses form a distinctive architectural feature. Apses are rounded endings to a church space; here, three of them form the end of the choir. The two churches therefore offer different points of interest: a dated classification and a distinctive architectural form.

The Chapelle Sainte-Rondine is the only surviving remnant of the former Hôpital Notre-Dame de la Pitié. In the Chapelle Saint Pierre, a window opening contains glazing assembled from fragments of 15th-century stained glass. These stained-glass windows were classified on 18 October 1913. The same chapel also contains capitals that are believed to come from the first Romanesque church. The years 1893 and 1913 refer to different objects: the Collégiale in the first case and the stained-glass windows in the second.

Self-guided audio walking tour

The Parcours Sonore du Vigan-en-Quercy is an immersive audio walking tour that you can complete independently on foot or by bicycle. It includes twelve stops and takes about an hour. Its approximate duration and fixed number of stops make it easy to plan as a separate activity.

You can follow the Parcours directly on a smartphone without printing the route sheet beforehand. Since route details and digital-use information may be updated, check them before setting off.

Circuit de Pochy hiking loop

The Circuit de Pochy is an 8.7 km hiking loop that starts in Le Vigan. Along the way, the route passes springs, washhouses and two characteristic mills: the Moulin de Dalet and the Moulin de Boucot. Near the end, it follows the GR 64 to Lac du Vigan before returning to the village centre. The named landmarks and route length provide concrete guidance for planning the hike.

The audio walking tour and the Circuit de Pochy offer different ways to plan: the Parcours is defined by its approximate duration and number of stops, while the Circuit is defined by its distance and waypoints. Route details may be updated, so check the latest information before hiking.
