In Gindou, film culture, church architecture and a walking trail offer distinct focal points for your stay. The Rencontres Cinéma takes place every year at the end of August, Saint-Barthélemy preserves traces of different building phases, and the Circuit du Moulin du Pan links cultural sites with a route through hamlets and woodland.

Film screenings and conversations at the Rencontres Cinéma

The Rencontres Cinéma de Gindou lasts one week each year and takes place at the end of August. The 2026 edition is the 42nd. Conversations, screenings and other events are part of the Rencontres programme. If you want to plan your trip around the festival, check the dates and programme for the edition you wish to attend.

The Tchatches at the 2026 edition included daily conversations with invited guests. They took place at Arsénic or in the venue’s outdoor areas; admission was free. Evening screenings at this edition began at 9:30 p.m. at the Cinéma de Verdure de Gindou, which has 658 seats. L’Arsénic is a new cinema and events venue with 240 seats, used for festival screenings during the day. As capacity may change, check the current arrangements before you travel.

Saint-Barthélemy: Romanesque traces and later building phases

The parish church of Saint-Barthélemy may date back to a Romanesque church from the second half of the 12th century. The apse and part of the chancel bay remain from this building. On the outside of the Romanesque apse, carved capitals adorn the axial window; only a few corbels remain along the cornice. Corbels sit beneath a cornice and support its projecting edge.

The later building history is also clearly defined: at the end of the 15th or beginning of the 16th century, a rib vault replaced the original chancel vault. The bell tower may date no earlier than the modern era. The nave and side chapels probably date from the 19th century. The church therefore cannot be reduced to a single period: its possible Romanesque origins were followed by changes to the chancel and other elements from later periods.

The Circuit du Moulin du Pan: distance, ascent and stops

The Circuit du Moulin du Pan circular trail is 9.61 kilometres long; 260 metres of ascent and descent are each indicated. Heritage and a viewpoint are among its thematic highlights. Check local conditions before setting out.

The route starts in Gindou and follows forest tracks, small roads and paths towards the Ourajou valley. Along the way, it passes through the hamlet of Bourbou, with its traditional houses, goes by a washhouse and leads to the privately owned Moulin du Pan and the washhouse below it. It then passes through the woods on the way back to Gindou. The mill building’s private status is important: the route description does not imply access to the interior.

For planning purposes, the distance and elevation figures offer two different indications of the scale of the circuit. The sequence of hamlet, washhouses, mill and woodland connects architectural and landscape stops along the same circular route. If you are primarily interested in church architecture and historic buildings, the trail offers a different way to experience Gindou’s heritage than a visit to the parish church.

More cultural events and cycling-related activities

At its 2026 edition, Gindou en fête was a three-day votive festival in the village. Sociable afternoons and shared meals were part of the programme, along with festive evenings and musical activities for children and adults. The event concluded with a mass and a wreath-laying ceremony at the war memorial. This information relates to the 2026 edition.

The screenplay competition Le Goût des autres is also connected with Gindou. The documented 2024/2025 edition, the 20th, was open to young people aged 12 to 18 in Occitanie and Nouvelle-Aquitaine. The finalists presented their projects to the public in Gindou on 6 May 2025. This edition offers a clearly dated glimpse into the town’s cultural life.

Black Duke Velo in Gindou offers bicycle repairs, route advice and guided bike tours. Its operating period is listed as 2026; check before your trip whether repairs, advice or a guided tour are available. This lets you tailor your plans to your specific interests: the festival programme, church architecture, the route described here or a cycling-related activity.
