Walking trails and planning your time

The signposted rural walking trail Sentier de l’Europe runs through Saint-Alban. It is 4.660 km long, with an estimated duration of about 1 hour and 30 minutes. This time estimate gives you a concrete guide for planning your day. The trail combines rediscovering the local environmental heritage with information panels about European institutions. In this way, the route brings together a rural walk and a thematic perspective on the environment and Europe. Signage and trail conditions may change; check both before setting out.

The Parcours de santé de l’Hersain offers a shorter option: it is 1,115 metres long and open free of charge year-round for exercise or a walk. In terms of length, that is around 1.1 kilometres compared with 4.660 kilometres for the Sentier de l’Europe. This lets you take two different route lengths into account when planning: a shorter circuit and a signposted walking trail with an estimated duration. Public access conditions may change; check them before your visit.

Market and culture

The Marché de plein vent sells regional products in the Giuseppe Meneghel market hall. Around 30 vendors offer fruit and vegetables, meat and charcuterie, poultry, rotisserie dishes, prepared meals, fish and cheese; clothing and plants are also available. The number of vendors and the range of products may change. If the market is part of your travel plans, check the current market arrangements in advance if needed.

The Espace Culturel Municipal Yves Montand offers a wide selection of different events every month. The programme includes circus, acrobatics, theatre, comedy and classical music; events are aimed at all age groups. Individual offerings vary by season. If you have a particular performance in mind, check the relevant event dates.

The same Espace Culturel Municipal Yves Montand also houses a library with its own services for readers. Anyone can borrow up to five items there for a maximum of three weeks. If you would like to use the library during your stay, check the borrowing rules before your trip; they may change.

Church and swimming pool

The present-day Église Saint-Exupère dates from 1875 and is dedicated to Saint Exupère, a 5th-century bishop of Toulouse. The year refers to the present-day church, while the dedication refers to the historical figure. This means the building’s history and its religious dedication can be considered as two separate aspects.

The intermunicipal Piscine de l’Hersain in Saint-Alban has a covered 25-metre pool and a paddling pool. If swimming is part of your stay, you can take these two facilities into account when planning. The facilities and access conditions may change; check them before a planned visit.
