On the Étang du Stock: Beach and Nature

The Étang du Stock gives Langatte a clear focus for trips centred on water and nature. It is the second-largest artificial lake in Lorraine. Plage de Langatte is a landscaped green beach with a well-maintained sandy access to the water; from there, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the Étang. Numerous resident and migratory bird species can be observed at the lake; their presence varies by season.

Water Activities and Leisure

Langatte’s leisure centre is located on the shore of the Étang du Stock. Swimming is permitted there, but is unsupervised; check the current conditions before your visit. Canoeing and pedal boating are also available. The availability of these water activities may vary by season, so it is worth checking them against your travel dates.

The Centre de bien-être is part of the leisure complex on the Étang du Stock. It offers pools with massage jets, a whirlpool, saunas and a hammam. If you are planning to use these facilities, check the current operating conditions in advance. The Domaine de Langatte’s Bar-Bowling has six lanes with electronic scoring. Check the current opening hours before your visit.

Circular Routes and History

The Circuit de Langatte starts at the Étang du Stock and is just over seven kilometres long. The route runs between water and forest and follows the banks of the Saar Canal. The circular walk takes about two hours and 15 minutes. Its length and approximate duration provide two different planning details: the distance covered and an indication of the time required. As trail conditions may change, check the situation before setting out.

The route to the Circulaire Langatte passes through Langatte and then by the Auberge du Stock. The circular walk ends at a dam, from which visitors can see the Maison forte. The building was intended to shelter armed people in troubled times and protect the dam from possible sabotage. The Circuit can be planned based on its length and approximate duration, while the Circulaire offers a historical connection through the Maison forte at the dam.

Near Langatte, outside the village on the road to Morhange, the Ferme des Friches sells products directly to the public. Its offerings include dairy products and other local foods such as jams, cured meats, meat, poultry and eggs. Check the opening hours before visiting.

If LANGATTE SUMMER takes place during your travel dates, the summer programme at the Domaine de Langatte includes country-style evenings under a marquee, pool parties and aqua cinema at the Centre de bien-être. Check the specific dates before travelling.
